Sony camcorder won't eject tape

By Luisa_K - usenet poster

" "
I have a Sony CCD-TRV615 camcorder which gives me an error code C:32:00
after I inserted what I suspect to be a bad tape (gave me similar results in
a different Sony camcorder). Now I cannot eject the tape. The camcorder's
eject button causes no reaction. Does anyone know if there is a way to
remove a tape from this type of camcorder without using the automatic eject
mechanism? Can the camera be partially disassembled without damaging
anything? Are there any websites which might give this kind of information?
Thanks.

Same Problem

-   I have the same problem-I can't remember the error message and I have a Sony Digital Handycam, model number DCR-TRV22E. The cassette compartment goes up and down slightly. The camera cannot record anything. I've already taken it to a camera store who tried to look at it and couldn't do anything, but not to a repair place.

I have a new camera, so I can record new footage, but I want to get the tape out of this old camera. I need to be able to use the old camera afterwards, because the memory stick function still probably works.-   Guest

-   I had the same problem, displaying the same code, the tape carriage was **** 1/2 open and won't budge open or close. I disassembled most of the camera trying to get to the gear mechanizm and polked lightly at the small gears by the motor through the opening on the tape side, this must have moved it enough to free it up. I got it to operate when I had it disassemble, actually it's still apart I'm having more trouble trying to get the side covers to go together. Try removing the plastic cover over the tape carriage and if you can take a small thin screw driver and move the gears, don't take the camera apart.

-   Hi, my cam corder is driving me insane, its chewed up a couple of my tapes and now is not working. as soon as i go to put a tape in it's beeping at me and displaying C31-:23. After chewing the first tape the tape compartment didn't want to open up to give me my tape back, after a bit of shaking and jiggling i finally got it out. Can anyone please tell me what C31-23 means. I also tried a cleaning tape just incase the heads needed a clean however it hasn't workrd-   vengo

It probably has to do tape reels mis aligned, hit it a few time on the side where the tape is.

This has worked for my Sony Hi Camera

I had a tape stuck in my TRV17 for a couple of months. What finally worked was to remove the battery, then put it back on. Then press the reset hard with a very strong pointed item. In hindsight, using compressed air to gently blow out any dust might have helped too.

Take it to an Authorized repair center. They should be able to unload it
with out causing any damage to the camcorder. It does take some disassembly
and knowing were and how to apply a small voltage. More than a layman should
take on.
