Question about HP Officejet Pro L7780 All-In-One InkJet Printer

All in one will not respond

I just bought the HP all in one L7780. I had to return it to the store and got a brand new one and I have had HP send me a new one all for the same problem, and HP does not know how to fix it... So here's my problem...when I plug it in and it calloborates and all, it will not let me copy, scan, print, or fax from it. I know it needs to be connected to a computer to print, however, it will not copy or fax or scan on it's own. When it is connected to a printer (and when it is not), the front panel does not respond to anything. So if I push the copy button, or the setup button or the help button, it doesn't do anything, As a matter of fact the only way for me to turn it off is to unplug it from the wall instead of pressing the power button on the front panel. I just got the new one from HP and it still is not working. All HP is going to do is keep sending me another machine instead of trying to fix it. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I just got this printer today and everything in the setup was going smoothly until I connected it to my wireless router. It connected successfully and then immediately froze. No amount of plugging and unplugging the power has fixed it. The screen and front panel are completely frozen. Should I send it back and get a different model? I've looked at lots of forums and this seems to be a very common fault with this model. Help please?

    Same problem - no keyboard reaction including power button!  Had been working fine both networked (wired & wireless) as well as USB for the initial setup.  I had changed the wireless IP address and when I went to printout the new Network info page it just stopped working.

First off, the printer will not function properly if its communication emblical is not connected to the pc. The pc houses all of the driver and driver commands for the unit. It absolutely needs this connection. Try this once, don't use the install cd that came with the unit, instead let's do this:
Create a new folder on your desktop and name it newhpdrivers(substitute your manufacturer in new name). Un-intall printer and printer software completely. Go to manufacturers website and navigate to their drivers/downloads or support menu. Select your model, choose the relevant software and download to the new folder you created on your desktop. Power down your computer. Reconnect the printer to the computer and turn printer on. Power on pc. Windows will detect new hardware and ask if you have the manufacturers install cd or a location to check for install files. Direct the wizard to your new software, follow the rest of the setup instructions and your done

Try reset your printer by following this procedure to reset it,

1. Without turning the unit off, unplug the power cord from the back of the product.
2. Press and hold # and 6 keys.
3. While holding those keys plug the power cord back in.
4. Wait until the screen goes blank before you release those keys.
5. Follow on printer screen instructions.This should fix the problem.

I have an HP L7780. We are having an issue receiving faxing. The pages are often only 1/4 complete. There is no reported error. It doesn't happen all the time.

Send a fax on this number
1-888 HP FAX ME (1-888-473-2963)

and see whether you receive a fax from hp or not whenever HP receives a fax from any number it sends back a fax to prove the functionality you can say.

Will not prime

Why worry about it? It's still under warranty and you just bought it. Return it to the store for exchange if you bought it locally, or contact the seller to send you a replacement and a return label for this one if you mail-ordered it.

I had the same problem with mine but I bought a refill cartridge instead of a new one and went through three refilled cartridges when I found that it was that I needed a brand new one. For some reason, the HP printers and some other printers need to know that you are using the same brand of ink as the printer. if it is another brand it wont except it and it wont let you print anything! So make sure it is a brand new hp brand ;)

The printer does not print black ink - only color. It is brand new so i don't understand?

Sometimes, the brand new inks have a bad head on them. You should return the ink to the store for a replacement and the new one should work fine. I had 4 do this to me in a row.

We have an HP L7780 and have problems rec. faxes - error 232

Hate to say it, but it means "Don't buy HP printers". You'll be a whole lot happier with Canon or Epson. I had no end of trouble with more than HP all-in-one. They just get flaky after awhile, and the software (particularly scanning) is terrible.
