Question about Water Heaters

Salt System for Swimming Pool

I am serving in the military in afghanistan. My wife sent me an email and said the salt system indicated low salt in the pool. I expalined how to add salt. The system still has a light indicating inspect cell?
I tried to find a manula online but no luck. Can you tell me how to fix the check cell situation? I think it will go away if I add a bit more salt. My wife isn't accepting that answer. She wants an explanation.

Thanks for your support

step 2 may be a clue that all that needs to be done (to turn out the light) is to depress the diagnostic button for about 3 seconds. Of course, some inspection or cleaning might still need to be done to preserve its life.

Thank you for your service. I haven't seen the name Blankenship since I left home in 58 to join the Navy.

Hello I have a tankless water heater I was wondering if you could use it for a swimming pool or hot tub

For a hot tub....meaby, You have to add a pump and a couple thermostatic switches for minimum and maximum temp. For a swimming pool will be easy .Bunch of water will not really need thermostatic switches but you also need a pump and probably a timer so you will not run it more then 20 minute at a time so you will not kill it quick.by self destruction !

I don't have a problem, just a question. I recently purchased a home with a GE Smartwater softening system installed Model GXSF23Z01. What do I need to do to maintain this system. Does it require salt?...

Check the time of day, and make sure it's accuate. Reset if necessary. Add salt if it's low. It's always best to let the salt level run low (about 1-2") so it doesn't mush. Only add 80-100 lbs at a time for best results. This particular softener doesn't keep a water level in the tank, so you won't see any water in the salt area. If there is standing water in the salt area, that could mean it's not working the way it should. Here is a link to the owners manual. It's in PDF format

Our water softener has stopped working. The salt has turned into one big block. What do I do? Can this be fixed? How?

You are going to have to clean the salt block out of the tank. You can try using the end of a broom handle to try breaking it up. Be careful not to go to bottom of tank. Try pouring a couple gallons of hot water over salt bridge if that does not work and retry. Avoid using pellet salt it causes problems like this. If there is currently water at the bottom of salt tank then system is not working and needs repair.
Hope this helps,

I have 2'' of water above the salt, would y pls help to remove the water. thx

The eductor assembly is plugged and the unit is not drawing brine. The eductor assembly looks like a space capsule it is on the left side of the valve. It needs to be taken apart and cleaned.

I just had a mouse surface in my holding tank how do I clean that out? do I add bleach and cycle the water softener?

The mouse must have been in one of your product bags...depending on the deterioration of the carcus; you may have already injested some of the decomposing material.
1. Turn off the water supply and remove the top cover
2. Make sure you have rubber glvoes. Drain the holding tank and remove and dispose of the remaining salt tablets/product left in the tank.
3. Yes, clean the tank with a disinfectant (bleach) and rinse thoughly. Be sure to rinse the tank...you don't want high levels of bleach in your supply lines.
4. Fill with new/clean softner tablets and return unit to service.

The water is not clear any more we have white residue in the kettle. We did change the filter and emptied the tank 3 times before insulting the new filters.

I don't believe that any filtration system is capable of removing dissolved calcium from water and that is what causes the white deposits. Water softeners will, but I don't like the idea of dissolved salts in our tap water.

My salt storage tank has water up over the salt approximately 12 inches deep. Is there something I need to do to fix this?

Not necessarily.....monitor the level....if continues to rise, then an adjustment may be required.....many salt tanks have water higher than the salt level at different levels as a normal condition.
