Can't get DVD footage off a RAM disc

I have a Panasonic DVD Camcorder (VDR-D100). I recorded footage of my daughter's first birthday on a DVD-RAM disc. I formatted the RAM disc on the recorder and then edited the footage on the recorder (dividing, combining files). When I put the disc into the computer to import the video using Panasonic's DVD-Movie Album SE program it said the disc couldn't be used, the format type was unknown and to insert an AV format DVD-RAM. This has never happened to me before, and of course it happens with my daughter's first birthday video! The file is saved in a DVD_RTAV folder, with the 3 usual files (VR_MOVIE.VRO / .BUP / .IFO files). Next I copied the files from the DVD-RAM onto my hard drive. When I try to access the files it says "Correctly copied recording video data doesn't exist in the selected folder. Select a DVD_RTAV folder that was copied using a copy tool." I can't tell from the outside what is damaged to not make it work property, and have been using RAM discs for the past year without an issue. Any help or suggestions are welcome!

SOURCE: Hitachi BX37E error

You can try to clean the laser lens first with a q-tip and 99% alcohol. If that fails, you should take it in for repair because the laser lens mechanism may be out of line because of a bump. There may also be a dust build up inside that prevents the proper movement of the lens. This can be done at home too.

Hi..I have a Panasonic VDR-D160GN video camera. I only know the basics of its use. eg, I know i have to format/initialize a new disc and have to finalize it before playing it somewhere else other than in...

When i have had that happen to a customer i have had to replace the dvd drive assy to take of the problem. Your videos on your disc should still be retieveable once the drive has been replaced, also ask for any firmware updates for your drive assy. I hope this helps

Changing the mode to use USB on panasonic VDR-D100 DVD camcorder...

Try using only DVD-RW disc (not DVD ROM/-R/+RW) and format as "Video" mode. When you are done shooting finalize the disc. Then iMovie or your movie maker should recognize the video.
