Rebuild power problems

I have rebuilt a couple of DS Lites but I have one that will not power up after the new housing was installed. It will blink when the power switch is turned on and nothing else. Is there any connections that must touch in order to it power up. Also, the top screen seem not to work as well. I have changed the screen but still no luck. Is there something I'm missing.

I figured it out... make SURE that the ribbon cable from the upper screen is up into the connector as far as it can go... When I redid both of mine they both had this problem. I've since researched it more, and found this to be a problem (which makes sense as I tried to turn it on w/o the top screen connected as well and it did the same exact thing)...

Make sure that the black tabs on the cable as up touching (well almost) the white connector before you push down the black clip thing that holds it in place. Once you get it connected right, it should work for you (it did on two of mine)...

insulation? On both of the ones I've rebuilt I've never seen any sort of insulation. On the three that I've had with this problem, the fix has been to properly seat the ribbon cable from the top screen into the bottom plug. After that, they work fine.

Have two ds lites they wont load the games it just says to insert the game but they r in ,any ideas?.Thanks

Hi,

There are possibly 3 things wrong.

1.) Your games are bad, since this is happening on both DS Lites.
2.) Check your pins inside of the DS. If they are bent, they wont read, but if they are slightly bent, you could actually straighten them yourself with a long skinny tool.
3.) The memory on both your ds lites are blown.

My solution: I ask that you place alcohol on all of your games and insert them and remove them 5 times to lubricate the pins, then on the 6th insertion, cut the game on to see if it reads.

I hope this helps :)

I have 2 DS lites. There are a couple of games,

Hi,

Could be one of a few possibilities, First try giving the games cartridges metal contacts a clean ideally with a cotton bud and white spirit (if you don't have white spirit try avoiding anything soapy, try and stick to an alcohol based solvant such as nail polish remover).

If that doesn't work you can try cleaning the cartridge socket (slot1), you can buy proper cleaning cartridges for the DS lite, or, if your feeling brave you can get a jaye cloth, dampen it with an alcohol based solution (same as what is used to clean the cartridge) and thinly wrap it around a rigid ruler, which can then be gently placed into the slot to give it a bit of a clean.

If both of those fail you may find that some of the pins within slot1 are bent/snapped and so this will need to be fixed, If under warranty i'd suggest taking them in to get looked at. If they are not and you feel brave you can set about fixing it yourself, take the DS lite apart and have a look at the pins on the slot1 socket, if they are damaged you can buy a replacement socket on ebay, but be warned it is a tricky job to solder a new one on.

Just so you know I take no responsability for any damage that may occur whilst following these tips.

If you need any further help or advice feel free to message me and I will do my best to help you. (If it comes down to it, if you are local to Bedfordshire, UK I can always take a look at it for you).

Regards,

DS LITE ? Green light stays on but screens or sound do not come on !!

I have some motherboards of ds lite with the same problem. If you twists a lillte the motherboard near the power switch, the system powers up without a problem. When you removes torsion, the ds freezes. perhaps there are problems with some weldings. I don't know the real solution.

Green light flashes on then off and we still get no power

I had the Same problem with one of my DS lites .
It turns out it was the F2 Fuse on the mainboard.
You have to solder over the fuse bypassing it.

Phantom Hourglass

Well, if you're using the same cartridge, it will still have the saved data on a seperate DS. I gave my step sister my game with my saved data, and she powered it on a seperate DS (her DS) and it still had my saved data on it. But on another cartridge, he'll have to catch up to the place that you are at.
