My HP pavillion sounds one long beep followed by two shorter beeps, and has a black screen. The reboot disk doesnt work either. Sometimes when I keep turning the laptop off and on again it works, however when I turn it off the same problem arises.

    Please help!

Same issue HP Pavillion dv2000 laptop, did a restart after a software upgrade and beeep pause then two quick beeps.

If I leave it shut off for a while it starts up either on safe mode or normal.
Is this a heat issue as it "gets better" when it is shut off?

  1. Computer beeps irregularly when the computer is turned on.
  2. Computer turns on but does not boot.
Note: Not all computers have beep codes, some of the newer computers have LED's that light up that indicate the error or have a sound file to indicate the error.
Cause: This issue can be caused by any of the below situations.
  1. New hardware conflicting with old hardware.
  2. Bad or failing hardware device.
  3. Connections not connected or connected properly.
  4. Recent electrical storm that caused a surge that damaged computer.
  5. Other hardware issue.
Identify beep code If you are receiving a sequence of beeps, these beep codes are meant as a method of quickly identifying what computer component is failing or bad.

The usually problems are related to: memory, video, keyboard or some similar hardware issue. Let me know your bios name and your beep sequence (short, long and quantity of beeps) and i will tell you which problem are you having in your computer.

Why is my screen red

You placed your problem with wrong category, I assumes. Is it a projection TV or a laptop? If it is a TV; check the site linked here for one color predominant screen faults. If it is a computer, re post your problem by computer category. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Screeen is upside down

If you have a Windows OS, press and hold the ALT and CTRL (control) keys and then press the Up arrow. (If that doesn't work, try holding the Alt and CTRL keys and pressing the left (or right) arrow key twice.) If that fails, right click on the desktop (Windows+D will minimize all programs), anywhere with no running programs or icons. Then select the Screen Resolution option. Look for the line Orientation; use the drop down menu to select the correct orientation. Click Apply and then confirm the setting change if a confirmation window pops up. (This works in Windows 7 and 8.) For older Windows versions on laptops, you may need to select Graphics Properties (or a similar line) and then repeat this. The Windows screen rotation option is dependent on your video card. With some models, you'll need to open the graphics card properties to undo the rotation. You should see a line for the graphics adapter when you right click on the Display.

For Macintosh OS, make sure that the System Preferences is closed. Then open it by pressing Option/alt + CMD . Select the line Display. Find the button labeled Rotation: Standard then choose the correct screen orientation.

I hope this helps.

Take it back to the place of purchase and get a replacement as it is under warranty.
Do not try to fix it yourself as you may void your warranty.

After turn on my computer I have only three short beep.

Open the cpu cabinet cover. Then reconnect the RAM memory into motherboard. Make sure motherboard is not ground with cabinet cover. Clean dust from motherboard .If there is any pci or vga card reconnect it. Also pull cmos cell from motherboard for 10 minutes then all settings defaults then check. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYA.
