`The LRM519 records programs selected from its program guide and is able to change channels, however with a set top box,you must change the channels using the boxes remote. It is my understanding the new digital channels will not appear on the program guide and the LRM cannot change the channels on the set top box. Thanks beergut707

I have 4 of these units and each one has a problem with the main board which is not available from LG parts.

Are there any other options aside from legal action?

Lg lrm-519 went into demo mode. Can't get it back

follow directions from the owners manual. while unit is powered up, unplug power cord from back of unit - wait 5-seconds. Depress the DVD open/close button while re-plugging the power supply cord to the unit. LG splash appears onscreen and unit goes into re-set. you do not loose any of you programing or settings.

Vcr/dvd combo recording problems

I would need your exact model # to get very specific, but in general:
The "External tuner" will need to come from your TV or a cable/sat box, generally. If your TV has a Video OUT or a Monitor OUT (most television don't), you can hook a yellow AV/RCA video cable from the TV to the Magnavox. You will also need to hook a red/white audio cable from the Audio OUT of your TV to the Magnavox.

Your TV probably doesn't have a Video OUT, so you will need to buy a box. A digital cable box for your cable service would be the best investment. Alternatively, if you can find a digital-to-analog converter box (but these are iffy). Once you have one of these box types, you will need to hook a red, white, and yellow AV/RCA cable from the video/audio OUT of the box to an available video/audio in on your television.

Once your connections are correct, the general rule with tuner-less recorders is: If you can see the channel that you want to record on the television screen, then you will be able to record it.

One final note about Feb 17, 2009: Thanks to Congress, the digital transition date was moved to June 12, 2009 - many areas have already switched, but there is at least a chance that you are in an area that hasn't switched yet.

Let me know the exact model # of your television, and I can tell you if it has a video/monitor out - or, let me know what type of box you decide to buy.

Good luck!

Sounds like a software error while the dvd is booting up. Did you try unpluging the unit for a while and pluging it back in?

Dvd with analog tuner work when swithc to all digital signal next

This unit will only work if you have a digital cable connection box. If you get cable service you will have this service if not you will need to buy a digital to analog converter box. This can be purchased at any large electronics store, like Fry's or the Micro Center. You can also purchase them on line. Use you favorite search engine and plug in Television digital to analog converter boxes. The search engine will bring up places to purchase them. I hope this information help you with your problem.

Installation of LG LRM DVD Recorder Model 519

be more specific with the problems you're having. following the instructions should be straight-forward. if you are using composite cables from the unit to your tv, be sure the composite/480i/480p switch is et to "composite". it'sa small black switch on the back of the unit. make your selection while the unit is powere off. Finally, the composit cables are usually plugged in to the "AV" inputs on the TV -- make sure you set your TV's input to "AV"

DVD recorder with NTSC tuner

Hey Whormd,

If neither your DVD recorder nor your TV has a digital (ATSC) tuner, they will not be able to directly receive over-the-air broadcasts after the DTV conversion is completed without the assistance of a set-top converter box. Please keep in mind that the official analog broadcasting cut-off date does vary by country. In the U.S. this date is February 17th, 2009, and that Canadian TV stations have until August 31st 2011 to make the transition.

Please also note that you will need one converter box for each device with an analog tuner, in order to watch one program while recording another. One converter box would need to be connected to the DVR, while the second converter box would need to be connected to the TV itself.

For more information, I would strongly suggest checking out the FAQ sections of the official DTV websites established by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Canadian Radio/Television Telecommunications Commission (CRTC):

http://www.dtv.gov/index.html (FCC)
http://www.crtc.gc.ca/ (CRTC)

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron

LG LRM-519 Not responding to anythiing

I had a LRM-519 that would not get past a very dimly lit "hello" on the LED screen. I called tech support and was advised to make sure no disk was in the unit and turn off the power from the unit (not the remote) and unplug it from the wall outlet. While unplugged, hold down the power button for 30 seconds then plug it back in. This didn't work the first time, but after a few tries it worked for me. My unit hadn't worked for nearly 3 months prior to this. Good luck.
