ZM400 printer Getting a RIBBON IN error. What do I do?

Try going through the LCD menu and if it say "Direct Thermal" change it to "Thermal Transfer", Direct Thermal made means, no ribbon required, but it sounds like you do have ribbon in the printer, if so, try my recommendation. If it asks for a password, it's '1234'.

When you open the print head to change labels, the ribbon tends to slide to the right (up the printhead) so...when you close, the ribbon is no longer over the sensor....thus the error message.
Just try sliding the ribbon to the left (down the print head) as you close

You somehow managed to unplug the cable that sends information to the control panel. You'll have to remove the cover to access that cable whether it's ribbon or wire, and plug it back into its connector.

Dear,


you have not mentioned, whether print continues with that error or it doesn printer..?


anyway,


first thing, check your power cable.


If that error is on, it means that label media or ribbon sort of errors.
try re inserting both ribbons and media.


if tat error is flashing and printer continues printing, it may coz of over heat of head..! if so try reducing the pressure of the head.

if you are using continous labels, then calibrate the media and ribbon sensor.

Will not print onto the label. but can see it on the black ribbon reel.
Perhaps your darkness is set too low, or your labels are not coated to accept thermal transfer printing. Let me know if this helps!

Error in position of the output for ZM400
this is usually caused by a pressure imbalance across the printhead. Check the printhead pressure adjust dials located on top of the printhead. You might find that the left side has more down pressure than the right side causing the ribbon to move to the right.

"warning Ribbon In" error message
Had the same problem with a ZM400. As stated in the User manual (can be downloaded http://www.zebra.com/id/zebra/na/en/index/resource_library/manuals.results.html?FRRBarcodePrinters=6882), warning "Ribbon in" is usually caused by the wrong printing method (thermal direct instead of thermal transfer [which should be selected for ribbbons]). My error disappeared after choosing "thermal transfer" directly on the printer. For network printers this needs to be set by an admin in the network settings for the the printer to solve the problem permanently.

Error: PrintException: Printer is not accepting job The printer is perfectly calibrated and ready to print. However, the java application I am using is failing to communicate with the printer.
