Question about LG DR275 Recorder
I have lost the remote controller for my LG DR275. The buttons on the front of my machine let me open and close the tray, start and stop re-play, and start and stop record. These buttons are just about all I need for basic operations, so I have no trouble re-playing all the disks that I have recorded since I purchased the machine. But there is no button on the front of the machine equivalent to the "enter" button on the remote control, so I can't instruct it to initialize a new disk to allow me to record on it.
Can anyone suggest a "workaround". Is there any other way to initialize a disk?
What about "finalizing a disk after it has been recorded upon (although this requirement is not so critical, because I can still play an un-finalized disk on this machine).
I don't want to buy a replacement remote control just yet because I am sort of hoping that the original remote control will turn up (I suspect that my 3 yr. old grandson has put it somewhere). Cheers, Tezza, Sydney Australia 14/10/08

For those users who just bought their machines, I would suggest warranty service. Roxanne2 should contact Philips directly with the seiral number, and they should be able to say which store they sold it to. That unit probably has a bad internal DVD writer drive.
The following solution should only be done if your machine is out of warranty unless you get permission from the manufacturer, as it will likely void the warranty otherwise:
Unplug the unit, disconnect all cables and move it to as static-free of an area as possible. Remove the cover, which usually means removing a lot of screws. Most DVD recorders have regular drives like you see in PCs. There is usually a tiny hole in the lower-right part of the drive that you can stick a small wire into, such as an unbent paper clip. You can then manually pull the drive open to get the DVD out.
