Question about Dell Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

Web cams my daughter has a mac computer and I have a dell with windows xp and I would like to know what kind of web cam I could get so that I could see and talk to my grandchildren and my daughter. thank you michelle davies at mdavies626@yahoo.com

Any web cam, as long it has the windows logo on it. install the software that come with webcam. you should be good to go in about 10 minutes

If you are running Windows,system restore will fix the problem.Another way is to go to the site for the manufacturer of the computer.They should have driver down loads for all your accessories.

I dont know how to set up my web cam


To set up web cam you need driver cd. Place it in dvd/cd drive. Now connect web cam to working usb port. Then computer will notice you that it found new device and searches driver of it .install it from cd drive now you can run web cam in your computer.

Usb web cam is not being detected on windows xp


make sure the usb cord is not damage, plug the cam and see if the system recognise it by finding new hardware.

Not all Web Cams turn on automatically, Yours might be one ;-)
Start, Settings, Control Panel. Look for your Webcam, Double click it, wander thru menues/tabs to find ON or Enable button. Close. Use

No sound


Does your computer came with a driver/utilities disk? The audio driver should be there. If not, try the Dell website support page o download the appropriate drivers for the laptop.

Hi Maungmaungti,

Thanks for your posting in FIXYA.

It may be some Hardware conflicts arises due to Web Cam.

Please unplug Cam from PC and reboot it.

Also check your Device Manager and use the Mobo CD from installing Sound Driver.

Web cam


Most of the Web cams dont have build in mic, but if you had it with your cam, try to plug in the red plug at the back of your CPU in the red plug in beside the green plug in. use plug and play wizard that helps you to try the mic of your cam if it really works.
