1 Answer

Help Can someone help me. I have a line going through my scanned images. I have cleaned the glass and rollers but it is still there. It actually was not there until I cleaned the scanner. Should have left it alone. Appreciate any help you can give me.

How 'crisp' is the line? IF it is same thickness even at different contrast levels, then it is likely the scan module is affected. If the thickness varies, or has jagged ends, then it is dust on the glass or a scratch of may be a dust particle sitting on the scan module. This has to be cleaned.

When I scan a document in the canon 9080c scanner - the document when printed will print with a black line through the middle of the page or on the left side of the document. I have changed the rollers and...

Try scanning a few documents in full size mode (scannerrs maximum), If you observe a line in the same location in all images, you can conclude that there is either a scratch in the glass (due to stapler pins) or dirt stuck firmly. Try cleaning with Isopropyl alcohol. For absolute emergency, you can wet a cotton bud in after shave and clean the right spot, take care not to touch any other part other than the glass. If glass is scratched, you need to replace it.

THERE IS A LINE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE SCANNED COPIES, CANNOT SEE ANY OBVIOUS DIRT ON ROLLERS

Look at the glass strip through which the documents are scanned. Even a tiny spot there results in a dark line along the scanned image. Often such spots come from scanning a document with corrections made using the white correction fluid :)
The users manual (UM) describes the cleaning procedure on pages 61-62, you can get the manual here:

Canon DR-2050C Scanner gets verticle line down image

I have the same issue with mine and there are 2 image sensors on this scanner. 1 in the back that you will see when you open the front that has a meteal shield covering the top half, and one in the fold out front that faces the inside. These are the "glass" sections everyone is refering to. Problem is, they are plexiglass, not glass and mine has a tiny scratch in the lens that is causing the line. This could be your problem. find the lens and use a LED flashlight to inspect your lens for scratches. If its scratched like mine, the entire module has to be replaced to fix it. The canon part number is MH7-7038 and they range from $125-$160 if you replace it yourself. The one in the front is easy to do, but the back one is a little tricky. Hope this helps. E. This must be a vertical line and appearing at the same location on all drawings! Please clean the glass thoroughly. It must be dust particle sitting on the glass.

HELP BIG JOB DUE TOMORROW! I have a DR 9080c and it just started putting two lines on the scanned pages. I have cleaned the rollers, the glass, run cleaning pages through even used compressed air to blow...

Vertical lines are from dust on the Glass. Use Isopropyl alcohol, no solvents pls. Try scanning in diff contrast levels and if the thichness varies, it is confirmed dust on glass, whereas any fault in the reading unit will be constant and also have sharp edges.

Line appears on all scanned documents. Scaning window & rollers have been cleaned.

Do the lines appear in the same location on all images? Please clean the glass with isopropyl alcohol.IF the lines are crisp and sharp at the edges on all levels of contrast, then it is module problem. If it varies depending upon the contrast chosen and is also with jaggered edges, it is dust stuck on the glass. Dont use solvents.

Line on far right of scanned documents

Hi,

Most likely the scanner has dirt on the glass that is over the imaging array or the glass may be scrached. If the glass is scratch, the imaging CCD array need to be replaced. If you do not scan the rear of your documents, you can swap the upper with the lower in the case that one is scratched.

The imaging array are the green long bars, one at the bottom of the paper path halfway inside the scanner and the other is above it. Look closely for a small spot of black toner or dirt stuck
on the glass. Take a soft cloth, wet it with water or alcohol if needed and clean the glass.
Pass you finger over the glass, try to feel if all of the toner or rubber residue has been removed.
You might try looking at the specific area were your documents image is getting the line. It will
help you pinpoint where you should clean. CAREFULL not to push on the glass as this
might break it. Hope this helps.
