See if you can check the temperature of your system in the bios. Check when you first boot up and after it freezes restart/ go into the bios and check it again. One thing overheating does is freeze up or shut down your pc. Could also be a virus. Also delete all your temp files/ internet temp files too. Check your memory if you don't find the problem here. A good way to control your system resources is to go to start/ run/ type "msconfig"/ enter. Check "selective start up"/ click on the "startup" tab on top right. You can almost safely un-check everything except your AntiVirus software depending on your pc unless you have a lap. Then your would need to leave things like the keyboard closure, touch pad etc. checked. This will take away any doubt that it may be a software conflict or to many programs trying to open at once causing your crash.
Good luck!!!

Hit start-run- type in MSCONFIG - select the startup tab - uncheck all the boxes - restart the computer . you will get a message saying you used the utility to change the way windows starts, this is normal , check the lil box that tells it not to bother you again and then ok. let me know if you need more help.. please rate ..

My computer too slow always get the not responding reply.

Eliminate Viruses and Spyware
Step 1

Run your antivirus program. There may be something slowing your computer that you can remove. It is a good idea to run your antivirus program every week.
Step 2

Remove spyware. Run a good spyware tool at least twice a month.
Step 3

Use a pop-up blocker, if you have one. Check your antivirus program.

Dispose of the Extras

Step 1

Delete your document files for anything you no longer need. Saved pictures, audio and video files in particular can slow your computer.

Step 2

Remove unwanted programs from the Control Panel area. Old toolbars or games the kids downloaded off the Internet are a good place to start. Look for software you no longer use, such as the old printer you threw out last year.

Step 3

Clean out your email. Old messages are a constant drain on your computer's resources. Go through every folder, deleting everything you do not need. Leave no mail! Finish by emptying the Deleted Items folder.

Step 4

Turn off unnecessary programs. Check your taskbar for icons that show running programs. Disable anything you are not currently using.

Run Maintenance

Step 1

Run the Disk Cleanup tool located in your Control Panel. (Windows only. For other operating systems, please check the Resources section below.) This will remove temporary files, cookies and unnecessary components to speed up your computer.

Step 2

Defragment your computer. Defragging takes some time, but will speed your computer significantly. You can find the tool in your Control Panel. Run it monthly.

Step 3

Check for disk errors. Sometimes corrupted files slow down your computer. To find and fix these files, Go to My Computer and right-click on C drive. Choose Properties, then Tools.

I cant get my computer to fully boot up

This might happen if you install McAfee with applications running, or not restarting Windows, etc. I am not sure why you couldn't boot in Safemode, booting in safemode is exactly what you need to do to uninstall McAfee.

Hp computer freezes for a few seconds at a time after repowering then is fine then freezes. Only solution so far is restoring to an earlier date. Does anyone have a solution for these intermitent freezes?

go into msconfig or the system configuration utility and then click on the startup tab. This will show you all the programs that are running while windows is loaded. Uncheck the programs that you don't want running and then click on Apply and then click on OK and then let the computer restart. Your computer should run a bit quicker and the freeze ups should pretty much go away.

Previous user apparently password protected Windows.

Well first off you can use the restore feature and it will only reinstall crucial windows files it won't mess with software that was already installed.

There are password recovery programs out there you would have to search for one and install the program onto a disc and boot of it (just follow the instructions)

Hello, the problem is with an acer aspire l100 desktop computer. When it starts up it freezes continuously and won't shut down. How do I solve this problem?

dear,
what are the starting and freezing conditions. i mean it freeze at what end. in the start, when windows starts, or on the other stage.
if ur computer freezes at very start, where the ram, hdd show. then its some hardware fault. it can be b'coz of ram. so check ur ram or rams.
if ur computer freezes at the starting of widows then it can be hardware but mostly software/ windows problem. so repair ur windows or try to run it on safe mod. b'coz if it run on safe mode then it dead sure that ur windows files have been corrupted or missing.
regards,
salman
