Question about Cameras

1 Answer

Kodak DC290 zoom. When you turn it on, the lens is supposed to extend. It doesn't. flipping the wide and tele switch makes it jump, but it still won't extend. After playing with it like this, it shuts down. Turn it on, play with the switch, shuts down. repeat this four or five times, and it finally extends and is usable. Got a fix for this?

Well first the cause, you may have a loose lens assembly or zoom mechanism, it is either you clean or replace this part...

note that the part and labor may cause some bucks and personally this camera is worth fixing...

here is kodaks support site, you may want to consult them for a cetified kodak repair center.

I have a Kodak DC290 which has not been used for a while. Put new AA's in it but it won't turn on. Camera belonged to my husband, who recently passed away. Also can't find the manual. Can you...

If it sat a long time with old batteries, make sure they did not leak and corrode the contacts in the camera. Look at them and clean if necessary.

I have a Kodak dc290. Where can I buy a flash card for it?

The DC 290 uses Compact Flash (CF) cards. You should be able to buy them at just about any electronics or office-supply store.

What is the largest size compact flash card can a dc290 use

I am using a 2GB TopRam Compact Flash memory card right now, and I haven't had a problem. With the DC290 in UltraMode, it's estimating that approximately 1900+ photos will fill the card.

What do you do when lens does not come out all the way?

Lens turns when it comes out. Recharge your lithium ion battery fully first. Turn on the camera. Then zoom to see if the lens moves freely. Fully extended only when it is not in tele mode but in wide angle mode. You need service if the lens does not move out, and camera does not power on.

Kodak dc290 digital camera keeps giving formatting failed error

Try cleaning the contacts on the memory card(usually sraping them lightly with a knife helps with contact) and if that doesn't work try formatting the card in your computer.

Problem with digital concepts teleconverter

The SX1 has an amazing 20X optical zoom. The teleconverter will allow to get pictures if the camera zoom is not fully on 20X. It means that you can't get a full 40X zoom images, but a 30X maybe. I don't why canon has this problem.

Olympus 8080 C 8080 wide zoom

It may have jumped a tooth, something like a car timing chain. The Zoom in this camera is a barrel that has 3 cams that rides inside another barrel that has "tracks" for the cams. The motor rotates the the outer barrel via gear teeth, forcing the inner barrel to extend or retract. There is a tab on the gear teeth that might index the position of the zoom lens. If this tab is in the wrong position, if the gear jumped a few teeth, the camera may not know where the zoom lens is in relation to the inner focusing lens, and cause the "zoom error" If that is the case, I can help you get it back into position. This is a theory, but does explain the tab on the gear and the constant zooming.

Wide-Angle Lense Fuzziness

That's completely normal for those cheap wide angle add on lenses. There good for a little fun but nothing serious. I bought the lens kit for the Kodak DC3400, probably the exact same lens. The telephoto in that kit was actually pretty reasonable though.

Wide Angle Lenses

wide angle lens aka fish-eye lens, means only the centre of your photo is clearly focused - especially in long distance scenery shots.
