How do I know if my boot ste up is correct

If your PC doesn't boot up using the hard drive, you can check that by looking for the F2 or F12 displayed on the screen during boot up. Then start pressing F2 or F12 quickly to get setup.
In setup follow the directions and set your "boot device" to "hard drive"
Hope this is what you needed.

How can i go to bios setup

Straight from the Dell website:
  1. Turn on (or restart) your computer.

  2. When "F2 = Setup, F12 = Boot Menu" appears in the upper-right corner of the screen, press .

If you wait too long and the operating system logo appears, continue to wait until you see the Microsoft Windows desktop. Then shut down your computer and try again.

I hope this answers your question!

I have a toshiba p205d-s7436 when you turn the laptop on a black sceen reads toshiba leading innovation i tryed putting recovery discs in will not reboot tryed f12 and f2 it will not boot up PLEASE ANY...

The first step is to check the BIOS to see if your hard drive is listed. If so, is it set to be the first boot device. To enter the BIOS, use the F2 option when prompted.

If the hard drive is not present, it's either come loose, or the drive's controller has failed.

Also, if you can use the F12 option to boot to a CD/DVD drive, use another computer to download the Ultimate Boot CD iso from http://ultimatebootcd.com, and then burn it to a CD. This will create a bootable diagnostic CD that you can use to run diagnostics of your hard drive.

Let me know how this works for you.

Sincerely,
James O'Brien

You need to change the boot order in the bios of the computer. It is also called the setup. When you turn the computer on, in the top right hand corner of your screen you will see F2-Setup F12-boot menu. Select F2 and when you get into the bios go through the options until you find "boot order" or just "boot". That will show what devices your computer will use, and in what order, to boot up. If the floppy is below the main hard drive then it won't work unless the hard drive is defective. Move the floppy to the top of the list, exit saving changes, and it will now check the floppy first.

Can not Boot from OnBoard SATA Hard drive.....it keeping looping...

Turn on (or restart) your computer.
When F2 = Setup, F12 = Boot Menu appears in the upper-right corner of the screen, press <F12>.
The Boot Device Menu appears, listing all available boot devices. Each device has a number next to it.
At the bottom of the menu, enter the number of the device that is to be used for the current boot only.

If this works and you want to change the setting permanently do the following:
Turn on (or restart) your computer.
When F2 = Setup, F12 = Boot Menu appears in the upper-right corner of the screen, press <F2>.
Use the arrow keys to highlight the Boot Sequence menu option and press <Enter> to access the menu.
NOTE: Write down your current boot sequence in case you want to restore it.
Press the up- and down-arrow keys to move through the list of devices.
Press the spacebar to enable or disable a device (enabled devices have a checkmark).
Press plus (+) or minus (–) to move a selected device up or down the list.
