I have just installed a new Monster 3D II, 12 Mb card and am having
some problems. No matter what I try, the video is discolored and
there are "boxes" throughout the games I have tried. By this I mean
that the video isn't smoth at all. The "boxes" are fairly large and
definately distracting. Has anyone run in to this and found a fix? I
spent an hour on the phone with Diamond tech (non)support. What a
laugh. Was finally told to try it in another machine and if it didn't
work there to send it back.

66MHz, but it didn't matter. The problem remains the same.

Test your card again, if your computer is not overclocked.

large chunks of polygons missing from the display using DirectX,
Glide, or OpenGL. Almost looked like 'boxes' in the game.

No, not "blocky". I think I know what you mean there. Sounds like
the old Matrox Mystique I used to have. The games I have tried the
card are all made for glide... Descent 3 Demo, Forsaken, Motocross
Madness, Carmeggedon 2, Freespace and others. I used to use a Monster
3D (original 4 Mb) and the games looked great if somewhat slow
compared to what I expected from the M3D II, 12 Mb. This problem is
more of a case of rather larger blocks than what I believe you are
talking about.

transitions but are blocky in video playback.
If so, it should have nothing to do with the Monster 3D. Have you tried
downloading some AVIs and MPEGs and perhaps Microsoft's Media Player
(which is a fantastic video player which will try to load new drivers if
it can't find one to run your clip)? I know in several games I have
(the Wing Commander games come to mind) the video quality is awful.

latest from Diamond and 3dfx. I've tried both. Glide and DirectX are
also the latest. Good to hear if I have to return this that at least
that works well. I've never had any luck at all with any of Diamond's
tech support people, for any product. Is there a PCI slot I should
try or avoid that might affect this issue?

extended sessions? I assume Diamond verified driver revs, etc? I can
say this: I had a Monster 1 go bad and Diamond had a replacement in my
hands in less than three days. I can't vouch for their tech support
but I can vouch for their RMA processing. I now own a Monster II and
have had not one problem. Also, make sure Glide and DirectX are the
latest version and installed properly. Many newer games require new
versions of DirectX and Glide. If you have exhausted your
possibilities I would send it back and get a new one. Nobody can claim
a 0% failure rate.
