Ok, i have a problem that doesn't need to be a problem and i'm hoping that I can get some help here cause I'm at my witts end. I have a Maxtor personal storage 3100 External hard drive. Earlier today it worked perfectly when i shut my laptop down. When i started it back up, my computer couldn't find the EHD. I checked it out and saw that the green light in front was just blinking, not a constant light quivering like it used to. I checked the power supply and nothing seemed out of whack until i tried a different power cord, the light started slowly blinking...weird. I need some help from anybody that can help me! I have all my music stored, all my pictures, everything on this. I don't want to lose all these files. If there is any way that I can fix of salvage my files, Please let me know I lost the power cord to my maxtor hard drive. Seagate Tech. sent me a new power adapter, a week later, free of charge! Plugged it in and got the blinking green light, then orange, now it doesn't work at all. whats the Deal? Open it up? thank you.
Sure..the power is not the key issue..what you might consider, is calling a local computer fix it shop, and ask how much to recover that data..then, you may be well advised to consider an online back utility, such as you can find here.
