Aoutofocus stopped working

The autofocus on my maxxum 7000 stopped working suddenly.
Al the rest of the camera functions work fine.
Any advice why did this happen and how to fix the problem?
Thank you in advance for responding. I got my camera out to make pictures one day and the autofocus tries but goes all the way out and comes by in, but gets into focus and won't take a picture.

First, it does get into focus but won't take a picture?
- if so, will it ever take a picture
- if it doesn't even do that, either try cleaning the lens first and if that doesn't work, something may be out of alignment inside if it isn't focusing at all.

I am a little confused by you question as It seems like it won't focus at all and then it will focus but will take a picture you say, could you please clarify this better for me

thanks

Batteries good? Contacts clean? If battery leakage clean and retest. Is the camera autofocusing? Did this start after you loaded film? Did the camera advance to 1?

What year was the Minolta Maxxum 7000, serial number 16043985? Thanks, Karla

I do not know for certain. You might find that answer on the Yahoo Minolta groups.
The Maxxum 7000 was introduced to the US market in 1985. Sold as the Alpha 7000 in Japan and Dynax elsewhere, it was replaced by the 7000i in a couple years. Then the 700, the 700xi, the 700si, the 70 and the 7 was the last film based 7 series. There
They also made 8000i, 800si, etc. The 9 series was the Minolta Professional cameras and they had the toughest bodies, weatherproofing, higher shutter speeds, and more.
Later models introduced better autofocus, better exposure options, wireless flash, faster film advance, etc.

Konica lenses do not fit Minolta cameras. I think you messed something up.

Minolta MC and MD lenses worked on the older manual focus Minolta bodies. They will also work on the Phoenix and Seagull clones of the old Minolta bodies.

The Konica lens should only ever be mounted on a Konica camera.

Your 7000i is now a Minolta paperweight. You need to send your 7000i for repair or replace it.

You could also look on Ebay for another Maxxum body to use your lenses designed for the Minolta A mount. As a rule, camera lenses are not interchangeable. You can use any Maxxum lens on any Maxxum body as a rule, but Minolta changed their flash shoe after the original 7000 series. Flashes that work with your 7000i will work with any subsequent Maxxum.

Can't get the camera to auto focus in dim light

you can maybe set the camera to manual focus, or override the autofocus so that you can take the picture.

Minolta Maxxum 5000

I had the same problem with a maxxum 7000. Traced it to a bit of corrosion in the battery pack. It let just enough power through to run the computer, but upon releasing the shutter, it shut off.

You might check that. corrosion can be cleaned with vinegar.

Aoutofocus stopped working

Start off with the simple things, does it work with another lens, is the AF/M switch in the correct postion for autofocus (AF), are the batteries good.

If all of the above are in order it maybe either the DC/DC converter on the bottom of the camera, this supplies power to various parts of the circuit. or it could be the motor drive transistors, these are located under the front cover and are located where you finger tips rest on the right hand side as you hold the camera.

Both these items are not really user changeable and I know the DC/DC units have not been available new for many years now.

I suggest you have a look for a friendly camera repair shop to pin point the exact cause.

You will have to keep in mind the age of the camera 23 years old parts are a big issue

ONline manual from Minolta says "winding motor problem", try removing battery and reinstalling. It didn't work for me though.

Maxxum 7000 camera lithium battery

The lithium button cell is under the metal plate where the battery holder attaches. There are six screws holding the plate to the camera. I believe the cell is a CR-2025.

That being said, replacing the lithium battery will only restore the cameras ability to remember your settings and frame counter when the regular batteries are not on the camera. It will not restore functions of the camera.

If the camera is not functioning properly, you have a power problem with the main batteries, not the memory backup cell

Minolta Maxxum 7000 35mm SLR Camera not working

Dear Minolta friends,
I have recently bought a second hand Maxxum 7000 and a AF lens, but found the body not ocntrolling the aperture while shooting. I know 7000 has someting special. Is my problem is due to lens and body compatibility or actually the malfunction of the body. I am sure the AF lens is ok since i have tried it working with another minolta af body.
Can give me an advice?
