Question about Linksys (WMP54GS) 802.11g/b Wireless Adapter

WMP54GS Keeps Disconnecting from Routers

I just finished reformatting my comp after some series Viruses. Reinstalled the Linksys adaptor with the CD but now it wont stay connected. It worked fine before I reformated my comp(Vista). My router works fine since I can connect to the other networks around me. It just wont stay connected for more then 1 minute or so for any network I try. Already tried unistalling & reinstalling both the software & hardware. Clueless what to do now.

When I go into the linksys profile window it shows up as inactive.

Uninstall the existing driver..

Use this driver.. (vista driver)

Download link. : Note : Look for the model number of your adapter before downloading the driver.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

My computer is crashing repeatedly do to viruses and other malware. I would like to just pull a complete system restore on it, but in the past my Linksys WMP54GS PCI Adapter has always given me trouble...

at a guess when u format reinstall you are losing the driver for the pci adapter. So get onto another pc download the driver , format restore the pc and install the driver then try to connect to the net , if u are using windows 7 i think the pc would have no trouble fixing this .......

Will not finish set up

Try reset ---
Hold the Reset button on the router in for about 30 seconds - then

To reconfigure, connect to one of it's Ethernet ports, load a web browser, and go to the URL http://192.168.1.1/. This will take you to a popup box which asks you to enter a username and password to login to your router.

On older LinkSys routers, the default username is blank and the default password is "admin."
On newer Linksys routers, both the default username and the default password are set to "admin."

Let me know if this helped :)

Linksys wmp54g

Hi,

There are only two (2) sources for the Win98SE driver of the LinkSys WMP54GS: a. online, and/or the CD installer.

Probably the easiest would be to go to an Internet Cafe and make use of one of their machines and make sure that you get one with a CD burner. Thereafter proceed to the Support pages of LinkSys and download the appropriate driver and burn it into a CD. In the LinkSys download page for drivers of the WMP54GS, you would be asked for the version (either a 1.0 or 1.1). There is also a Quick Install Guide for 98 & ME. Back to your Win98 machine, pop in the CD and install. Somewhere down the line the installation would also ask for your Win98 CD installer. An alternative would be to save it in a flashdrive (that is of course assuming that the Win98 USB drivers have been loaded to your PC. If not, you might as well download it also.).

Alternately you may have a friend who would be willing to lend you his/her installer CD or you can try approaching a sympathetic sales person in a computer shop (or tech) who would burn a copy of the original for you.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
