Unplug power cord, wait ten minutes and plug back. This will reset the TV.

You must obtain the service manual and identify the parts from the layout diagrams.  It is not an easy job and is even one that advanced tv techs have trouble with.

You may want to spend the money to have a qualified expert do the job because the set should be analyzed first to make sure you know what is causing the problem.  I can only be about 70% sure by long distance diagnostics!

Don't have original remote control. Somehow, a window for PIP opened, and I can't get it to turn off. Have a new sony remote RM-V310A, but the PIP button won't activate the remote. Any...

Many TV functions can be controlled from the on-screen menus using buttons on the TV itself. These include all kinds of settings however Sony did not include PIP in these menus. Therefore a valid remote is required to operate PIP. One thing you could try is removing the cable from the secondary input on the TV which provides the signal for the other picture. Without an input signal PIP may be disabled. Also, try buying a universal remote and setting the proper code for your TV. Original remote could be hard to find but may have one.

Standby mode intermittently.

Hello, FixYa

I have normal tv model CNT 2588 code 981, remote control was out of order and I tried to buy a new one from many places in UAE, Suadi Arabia & Egypt but I failed due to it is old model and no spare parts. So I use the tv function through Satel Decoder and use tv main power button for swithing on and off. It seems that caused a problem and tv now could not get power to switch on. Would you e-mail me with the repair manual including the Elect.Circuit to try to repair the problem. Also if you can arrange to send me a new remote control model CNT 2588 code 980. Since the TV Picture and sound are still in an excellant condition, please e-mail me you kind response with the cost if any to send you my Address and money.

Thanks in advanced.
