There is paper in the paper tray but everytime I press print, my Canon Pixma reads please load paper and it won't pick up the paper..It makes a sound like it's going to pick it up, but it won't catch the paper.

    Please help

Have the same problem with the Auto Feeder at top of machine. Paper starts going, then crumples on one corner and jams. Have tried cleaning rollers, as manual suggests, didn't help. There's no paper or anything else I can see jamming it. I think the paper isn't getting past the sensors. The lower tray prints okay but I can't use the glass to copy.

Make sure that you are loading it in the back and not the front, I didn't figure this out until I looked at the manual. If you're used to HPs then you want to load in the front, but actually if you look behind the scan door, there is a black panel that you can open, and that's where you feed the paper. That thing in the front is actually where the paper comes out of. Go figure.

SOURCE: canon pixma mp110 saying ''please load paper and press ok''

there is problem in the paper feeder gears of the printer.they r pulling the paper and then not able to forward the paper as they worn out or slightly cracked.so they needs replacement with deep servicing/cleaning from proper technician .it will be ok after that.

SOURCE: Mp780 - Paper attempts to feed and fails Message: Load paper

Your paper feed source is wrong .Go to the printers control panel and change the feed source.
If all you do is 8.5X11 you can go into the maintenance tab and choose it to automatically change paper trays by selectin auto continuous feed.Make sure paper is in both trays of the same type and size. You will hear the printer try and grab the paper three times then it will automatically switch to the next tray.

SOURCE: canon MX850 - paper feed

Look carefully because it is a cassette on the bottom of your canon mx850... so the solution is: or you fill that cassette or you switch your canon (it is a button for that) to take the paper from the top...

SOURCE: Cassette error

On the control panel for the printer, there's a Feed Switch button that's easily touched by accident. Ensure the Feed Switch is set to the paper source you're using (e.g. either the back or front). The graphic of the printer next to the Feed Switch button will light up to indicate the paper tray it's attempting to use.

How do I align the head on my Model-PIXMA MP 970 Canon Printer?

In short, while the printer is On, press the Home button on the printer, use the up-down button to scroll down the menu and locate "Settings", again scroll down and locate "Maintenance", press "Ok" and locate "Auto Head Align" and press "Ok", again press "yes" when you see a confirmation message on the screen. The alignment page will print out. Make sure there's paper in the tray (not in the adf) before performing this.
The long procedure is given below (if in case you need it):
Press and release the On/Off to turn the power on. Open the sheet feed cover on the rear paper tray. Pull out the paper support until it stops at its fully extended position.
  1. Open the paper output tray. Flip the paper output tray extension out. Load a sheet of letter-sized plain paper in the rear tray. Slide the paper guide to the right until it is snug against the left side of the paper.
  2. Press and release the Home button on the control panel. The Home screen will be displayed on the LCD panel. Press the Up or Down Arrow button to scroll through the menu. Select the Settings option. Press and release the OK button. Select the Maintenance option. Press and release the OK button. Select the Auto head align option. Press and release the OK button.
  3. Wait for the confirmation screen to be displayed on the LCD panel. Select the Yes option. Press and release the OK button. Wait for the printer to automatically align the print head and print the alignment sheet. This process should take approximately 4 minutes.

SAYS GOT PAPER JAM

With the message should say where is the paper jam. If you can not find this information you can try:
  1. Pull the paper tray, specified on the Display Screen, completely out of the printer.

  2. Remove any jammed paper from inside the tray slots. Make sure there are no pieces of paper jammed in the tray slots.
  3. Make sure to use paper within specifications and that the paper is loaded correctly in the tray. See the Related Items below for additional information.

NOTE: When the paper edge guides are correctly adjusted, there may be a small space between the paper and the guides.

  4. Adjust the length and width tray guides:

    1. Length guides: Press the sides of the guide, and then slide the guide until the arrow on the guide point to the appropriate paper size labeled on the bottom of the tray. When properly positioned, the guide will click into place.

  5. Remove the top sheet of paper from the tray.

If none of this clean the JAM message you might want to power OFF/ON the device.
If that also does not clear the message you can go a bit deeper and reset the device. THIS WILL CLEAR ALL YOUR SETTINGS, might inclusive clean TCP/IP settings. So I advise you to print configuration report first then.
If you wish to do this here are the steps. NOTE: Resetting NVRAM returns stored parameters in the image processor board NVRAM to their factory default values. The print count and the Adobe firmware serial number are not affected by this reset. You can reset the PostScript NVRAM using the Service Tools menu or the Service Diagnostics menu.
To reset the printers NVRAM using the Service Tools menu:

NOTE: Print a Configuration Page before resetting NVRAM. See the Related Items below for additional information.
  1. Press and hold the [Up] arrow button on the Control Panel, and then press the [OK] button. This will automatically display the Service Tools menu on the Display Screen.
  2. Press the [OK] button.
  3. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button to select [Reset NVRAM], and then press the [OK] button.
To reset the printers NVRAM using the Control Panel:
  1. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button on the Control Panel to select [Troubleshooting] on the Display Screen, and then press the [OK] button.
  2. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button to select [Service Tools], and then press the [OK] button.
  3. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button to select [Reset NVRAM], and then press the [OK] button.
  4. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button to select [Exit], and then press the [OK] button to return to the Main screen.
NOTE: The Configuration Page can be printed to help solve printing problems and obtain the best results from the printer. Access this page from the printer's Control Panel.
  1. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button on the Control Panel to select [Printer Setup] on the Display Screen, and then press the [OK] button.

2)while pressing these two button plug in the power chord to the back of the printer..
3)after you plug in the power chord do not release those two buttons untill the screen goes blank..
4)once the screen is blank release the buttons and then turn on the printer..
5)then try to make a copy from the ADF..if its still the same..then machine should be replaced..
let me know if this has worked..
