This sounds like the front panel assembly(FPA) switches are acting up. What happens with this model is the FPA switches start to conduct just as if someone was pressing the buttons. This in effect locks up the system control or causes it to do erratic things. The way to determine if the FPA is bad is to remove it by unplugging from set. This requires front panel disasembly. Note:The remote will still work with the FPA removed so the set can be tested. Also double check that the remote is not the problem by removing it from the room or removing the batteries Let me know if you need more help or info.
I see this alot at the shop ... the front panel buttons have become damaged. THe best coarse of action is to replace the front button cuircit board assembly... **** there is a tempery fix untill you get the part... remove the front panel and take button cuicit board out...just use remote to control the tv. You have to get the extended model number off the back ussally d52w20yx1 or yx2 or yxsomething...not to difficult a repair
I see this alot at the shop common problem... the front conrtrol buttons have become damaged. you need to replace it. You can remove the front panel and leave it out until you can get the front keyboard cuicit board. Just use your remote to control the tv. to remove the board just remove the front middle panel via the t20 torx screws. then unplug the connector. You can get a new cuicit board via union electonics... you need the entire model number...r52wh73 yx1 or yx2 something like that it is in small letters on the same label as the large model number, Let me know if you need any more help on this repair.
Sounds like one or more of the keypad buttons are sticking - That would also cause the remote control to stop functioning. When you saw "P:0 V:0" you somehow managed to put the tv into the service menu. Pull the keyboard away from the plastic buttons and make sure nothing is in the way.
