A video capture device was not detected (by 5 users)

I have a Panasonic NV-GS17 digital camcorder with no bundled software. I've
plugged this into the IEEE1394 port but Windows Movie Maker 2.1 fails to
recognise it. What should I do? I have Windows XP Professional SP2.

I have the same problem.

On plugging in my NV gs17 the comp pings as though it recognises something is there but doesn't display in my computer or when using windows movie maker it doesn't recognise the camera and so i cannot import and video!

ive got the nv-gs10 similiar problem it didnt come with any software no wonder i cant download onto mac or windows, driving me nuts can anyone help please
