I have an hp zv-6000 I powered on and is asking for power on password after 3 try's it gives a code of 03986 how can I get past this

What you are referring to is also known as the BIOS password, which can be cleared by removing the power cord, and removing both of the batteries. Leave it for 5 minutes, then reinsert only power cord & internal battery (leave main battery out temporarily) and start it.

Pavilion dv9308nr PC Notebook: hp dv9308nr wont power on all the time... works if...

Due to regular use of the notebook, some static charges tend to stay in the computer, and sometimes results in not allowing the computer to function properly.

Please follow the power drain procedure to confirm the same:

1. Disconnect the AC Adapter.
2. Remove the Battery.
3. Hold the Power button down for 30seconds to 1 minute.
4. Put the Battery in.
5. Reconnect the AC adapter.
6. Turn on the Notebook power.
7. Restart the Notebook.

If the Notebook boots up you may fix the battery back. Try restarting the computer only with the AC power, without the battery & vice-versa. If the issue still persists then I request you to reset the memory modules, as sometimes the memory module connection get loose.

No power

Try purchasing an original adapter. I've had several machine of different make through my shop that the Targus adapter just simply won't run. For example, a Dell Inspiron 1100 and HP dv4000 won't run at all, and a Dell Latitude 1501 and Gateway crv503 will run but won't charge the battery. Targus adapters are junk, if you can, get your money back.

HP PAVILION ZV 6000 SHUTS DOWN AFTER LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES

Is this on battery or power supply?
If on AC power supply, then it sounds like a heat related issue.
Make sure you can hear the cooling fan running and you may need to blowe the dust out of it with a can of compressed air.
