New panasonic CR583-B octal CD ROM player revs up like a Formula 1 racer
whenever I pause a music CD, or when the CD comes to the end of it's play.
The CD player seems to speed up and vibrate the whole PC case at these times.
Wouldn't want to leave it running for too long in that state, sounds bad
enough to cause damaged to the player. In all other respects the player works
fine.
I'm running WIN 95 on an ASUS P55T2P4/Pentium 133 mother board with an ASUS
PCI-AV264CT-N graphics card/Mediabus Vibra sound card combo.
The problem occurs with either the WIN 95 CD player or the player supplied
with the AV264CT-N. An identical system I have access to does the same thing!
Could it be a problem with the creative CD ROM driver SBIDE.SYS?
Has anyone else experienced anything like this with a Panasonic octal, or is
there anyone using the same hardware combination without the problem???
I'd appreciate any relevant response.
Thanks,
BerniE,

cause was non uniform cd's (bad manufacture resulting in out of shape
cd's). there is some truth in this as far as i can tell because my
cd's that cause the most vibration are always the same ones. however
i do have the file u want which does nowt for me but maybe will help
u. AARGH!! - i cannot insert the file in the message, sorry.

Eg WIN 95. Often when just "idling" with the CD loaded, the player suddenly
speeds up noisily.
With many PC component and accessory manufacturers failing to provide on line
support for their products, it was a VERY pleasant suprise for me to receive a
reply from Panasonic's U.S. WWW site, regarding the problem:

This problem may be resolved with the creation of a driver patch
(58xwin95.exe) found on our bbs at 770-664-1833. It will be on the
web (#) soon. Good Luck.

That BBS is a little bit far $$$ from here though.
Anyone already got hold of the patch???
BerniE.
