How do you access the fuses inside the mixer? I see no screws

  • hillcountryq Feb 13, 2009

My mixer (2360) will start...slowly...then quickly grind to a halt. I located a replacement switch/circuit board online ($11.95...Marbeck's), but now can't see how to dis-assemble the mixer to access and replace the switch! Help?

Motor spins but blade doesn't

If there is a shaft sleeve available from Kitchen Aid you will need to replace that and most likely the chopping blade if there is any damage up inside it.

250 watts k45ss classic stand mixer doesn't run

My first guess would be the speed control plate. It has three screws in an upside down triangular shape. The two screws on top control and adjust speeds 1 thru 6, and often times just one screw being out a 16th of a turn will shut the mixer off completely. I would venture that when you were removing the two stud bolts you moved the adjustment screws on the speed control plate. Remember that even a slight movement can shut down your mixer, take a phillips screwdriver and turn the top left screw one quarter turn while the machine is on, it can start on you so don't be shocked and jump with a loaded screwdriver in your hand at the back of an electrical device, stay calm, if no start then try the left screw a quarter turn, if it does not start go to a half turn on each screw, if still no start turn thr screws back to the start place and try the bottom screw a quarter turn left and right, if you do not start by now, then something is wrong in another place, go back to the brushes and take them out and check how you put them in, these are the two most common problems with a no start mixer. If this does not fix your problem or get the mixer to start please come back here with more info. If you motor raced in the first place then I would suspect the phase control board, but when it came back to normal speed it leades me away from the phase board. When the phse control board goes out the mixer only works at high speed. So please let us know so that we can help further.

Kitchenaid wont start

The possible problems could be in no real order>>>
1. your power outlet in your house
2 the power cord to the mixer broken or shorted
3 the speed control plate inside the mixer needs adjusting or replaced
4 the carbon brushes inside the motor head of the mixer need replaced
5 the armature a motor part
6 the stator a motor part
The first four are easy fixes the last two will require a full tear down. but there are lots of things to test first. let us know.

The mixer simply doesn't turn on. Worked fine yesterday. Today it seems like it's just dead

HI.Let me jusk ask if yiou also tried to connet to another socket.Let me just clarify that the motor itself did not work /rotate as well.Prior to that situation, have you tried to mix more than what is the capacity of your mixer. If possible motor was overworked/that's why its coil was burnt.There. are possibilities then. First might be that the mixers terminals inside will no longer engaged properly that's why it opens the circuit.Second the motor isn't working because the rotor and armatures coil was burnt because it runs beyond its maximum wattage capacity that's why it draws much current beyond the rotors coil capacity.Did you mixed something heavy.the motor works heavier the last time you used the unit?

I have a KitchenAid Professional 600 Series 6-Quart Stand Mixer, model KP26M1XBS, which no longer works. I was mixing pretzel dough and the mixer stopped turning. I initially just thought it overheated...

Don't worry about the Worm Gear for now. You have to make sure that the Motor
is fully functional by itself: Remove the Transmission Housing Cover (4 screws) and
the two screws holding the Motor down. Lift the Motor off the Worm Gear and set it
on the side (be careful of AC voltages from the Motor and Control Assembly).
Select Stir setting and observe the motor shaft. Is the Motor running? If it is,
Select other speeds to see how the motor performs.
With the motor now fully functional, you can now check the Worm Gear Follower
for worn out/broken teeth. Remember the motor drives the Worm Gear, it then in
turn drives the Worm Gear Follower (you may have to remove the grease to see it)
The Bevel Gear sits right on top of the Follower and drives the Attachment Gear.

Hobart Mixer A200 buzzing. The motor not moving

Have you try to run the motor without engaing of worm gears? The worm gear 15T assembly need to remove in order for motor to run freely. check worm gear attach to motor shaft for any damaging.

Mixer works on high speed but not low. Brushes

Motor brushes are fairly cheap to buy. It sounds like the first place to start: http://kitchenaidmixerspares.co.uk/Home/tabid/36/ProductID/88/Default.aspx

My son thought the big screws on my kitchenaid mixer were menat to be unscrewed. He was surpirsed when a spring and something else popped out. He replaced the parts but now the mixer doesn't work. HELP

Hi, abarhum. I hate it when that happens. Your son must be a future electrician, because what he ‘discovered’ was your mixer’s electric motor’s brushes. It seems that power is not getting to the armature from the brushes so I would suspect that one or both of the brushes is (are) not seated properly. Do you know if he removed them both, or just one?
I'd suggest removing them again and making sure the brushes are facing in the right direction to contact the armature’s commutator. The concave contact face of the brush should be resting completely on the commutator. If your son turned it 90 degrees too much when he put it back together for you, it won’t' seat properly and the motor doesn’t get any juice.
It might be helpful to have your Parts List Manual on hand when you do this. If you're lacking one, you can download a PDF version from the KA website: http://www.kitchenaid.com/flash.cmd?/#/page/home. Click on Customer Care>Locate Manuals & Guides> Enter the 6 character model number, in your case use KSM50P, and select the last file listed under Parts List (4), KSM50PWH2.pdf (354.62 KB). Check to ensure it matches your mixer model.
Turn to pages 6 & 7, titled: Motor And Control Parts, which provides an exploded view for the disassembly and reassembly of your mixer’s electrical components, along with all the parts. You’ll want to focus on Illus. No. 47 and 29, which is the brush holder and brush & Spring assembly.
Don’t be too hard on your son… I can remember doing something very similar when I was young and became an engineer… J
Good luck, I hope this helps. Howard, Burke, VA\

My kitchaid stopped working. Is it worth getting

CARREN90 – You don’t provide a lot of information, which would be helpful in providing a rational answer to your question. What model KA mixer do you own? How old is it? Is it under warranty? What do you mean by stopped working? Do you mean the motor runs but the agitator doesn’t turn or the motor doesn’t run at all? The more information provided, the better the answer I can offer. That being said, if your KA mixer is less than 20 years old, it might be worth repairing.
First, there are only two reasons it stopped working - an electrical problem; the electric motor or one of it’s components has failed so it is not getting electricity (power) to run; or a mechanical problem – one (or more) of the transmission gears has failed, and although the electric motor may still run, the agitator is not turning in the bowl.

Either problem is fixable; depending on how intimately you wish to get acquainted with the internal workings of your mixer. If you are DITY type person and feel adventurous, and your mixer is not under warranty you can troubleshoot it yourself. Be sure you have the Parts List manual on hand. If you're lacking one, you can download it from the KA website. Click on Customer Care>Locate Manuals & Guides> Enter the 6 character model number select a file under Parts List and then check to see it this matches your mixer model. You can check the disassembly and reassembly of your mixer, along with all the parts. It can be messy but gratifying. Once apart you can check for any other unseemly wear and tear on the gears, etc.
If you feel troubleshooting and repairing is beyond your capability, then I would seek out a local small appliance repair shop in your area. KA Customer Care can provide you names of local KA authorized repair shops in your area, but you can also do an online search to supplement what KA may provide you. Call to explain your circumstances (again the more information you provide the better their answers will be to you) and find out their hourly rate and get an estimate of what they think it would cost to repair your mixer. Also, always obtain three or more estimates – do some comparison shopping. If the estimates exceed the original purchase price, you might consider purchasing a new one, but that is a decision only you can make. Hey, Christmas is just around the corner!!

Good luck, I hope this helps! Howard – Burke, VA
