Question about Televison & Video
I've had a GE 46GW948 TV for 7 years, it worked perfect until yesterday when the image started getting out of focus and the colors when on and off, so I turned it off thinking that it was a bad signal issue. Try to turn it back on, and I could hear all the channels perfectly but no image (completely black). I could only see a pale blue line accross the screen and some other times a few small color dots on the screen.
Is this a complex projection/signal issue or could it be just the projection "bulbs" (red, blue green) that need to be replaced? Does this call for a technician? any Idea on the estimated cost?
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: Toshiba 65H81 convergence issue
Does the blue and red crosses move at all ... eather vertically or horizontally. if they move at all then it may not be the chips.. could be a resistor. if the crosses dont move then it probally the ic. these chips run about 7 to 45 dollars apeace depending on type. at our shop we charge around 125 to put in.

SOURCE: Color doesn't line up
you need to replace both convergence ic's they are located on your D board mounted right on the 2 big heat sinks you should either need STK-392-560 or STK392-510's you can find which one on stamped on the side of your old ic's. you can go to this sight and get them at reasonable prices plus picture installation instructions and free online tech support if you need help. By doing the repair yourself you will save between 4-500.00 for about a 45min repair

SOURCE: I HAVE A HITACHI PROJECTION
Replace the convergence Ic's with a kit that is available through your local parts distributor
You must replace all resistors in the kit
If you are not good at soldering and de- soldering have a local tv shop do it for you

What you have is a convergence problem.
There is 2 modules inside your set that aligns the colors to have the same geometry and superposed .
It is a common problem in rear projection tvs ,
You don`t have to worry about your blue tube , i`m sure it is perfectly fine, it just needs to be aligned through the convergence circuit.
Most often the problem is with those convergence modules that are faulty and need to be replaced.
Hope this will help good luck
