Question about Brother MFC-640CW All-In-One InkJet Printer

2 Answers

Random Beeping I have an mfc-640cw. Generally works fine but on random occassions will start a continuous monotone regular beeping noise every half a second and will carry on until either the machine is unplugged and reset or 5 minutes has passed. This occurs whether the machine is setup wirelessly or hard wired.

    Hi anaanymous

Thanks for the reply. I have tried this a couple of times including downloading the uninstall programme from brother to ensure a total clean installation as well as cleaning up the registry with a registry cleaner to get rid of orphaned entries. Still has not resolved the problem though. It beeped again about an hour ago, I unplugged it and plugged it back in and so far it has been quiet. It's a bit of a puzzle. Thanks for your suggestion though.

Hi iankw,

Well, I think we can safely rule out software/firmware issues. Your only resolution at this point may be to get onsite technical help and thank you for the kind response

Hi, try updating your printer drivers:

Create a new folder on your desktop and name it newhpdrivers(substitute your manufacturer in new name). Un-intall printer and printer software completely. Go to manufacturers website and navigate to their drivers/downloads or support menu. Select your model, choose the relevant software and download to the new folder you created on your desktop. Power down your computer. Reconnect the printer to the computer and turn printer on. Power on pc. Windows will detect new hardware and ask if you have the manufacturers install cd or a location to check for install files. Direct the wizard to your new software, follow the rest of the setup instructions and your done

Good Afternoon Terry, thank you for your post!

Often constant beeping is an indication that the unit is experiencing a possible error. I under you have tried resetting the dryer by flipping the breaker. It is important to wait roughly ten minutes before turning on the unit. If the beeping continues, then the appliance could be experiencing a communication issue with the control board or a potential wiring failure. I would recommend connecting with a qualified appliance repairman to proceed further.

Oven buttons stop working and it is in lock mode and says OFF?

Sounds like a control board failure ... should be under warranty, no?

My PC randomly starts to beep continuously. I say randomly as it can start beeping at anytime, including when the computer is switched off and not being used. I can pull out the power cable and the beeping...

Try replacing the RJ45 LAN cable. It may have a short in it. Also check the metal back plate. Each opening has small 1 or 2 tabs that ground each port.
The MB's internal speaker must have power in order to beep. Since you have pulled out the power cable there can't be any Standby power to the MB which keeps the cmos battery charged while the system is off. However every RJ45 does carry a low amount of voltage through the cable. If the above doesn't help there is one other thing you can do;
Go to Device Manager and "Show Hidden Devices".
Under "Non-Plug and Play Drivers" you'll see an item named "Beep".
Disable that and the "random beeps" disappears.
Once done, of course, you can hide the hidden devices again.

Random beeping on other end

What type of system is this? Also do you have office recording software which records the conversation. This will beep to allow the person to realize they are being recorded.

Random beeps, oven almost starts itself

The touch pad may be defective. There is a membrane behind the buttons that will cause problems like that. The only cure is to replace the touch assy.
