Couple of things there are o-rings inside that trigger assy. they are either pintched in or dry. next there could be internal rubber hoses inside the gun. might need replacing. lastly the hose or o-ring going to the back side of the ram is leaking or broken. here is what i would do. you sound pretty handy with your tools so i would get somewhere clean start taking the gun apart thouroghly noting where everything went and go untill you find the problem. but first i would shoot a couple of drops of oil into the air input on the gun then hook it up and fire a few off and see if it clears up, if not then start takeing it apart. I CAN NOT STRESS ENOUGH....DO THIS ON A CLEAN SERFACE WITH YOUR HAND CLEAN. i chased a leak around in a pnumatic hammer for 3 days all because it wasnt clean on the inside..

My bostitch n88rh framing nailer will fire when pointed down but wont fire pointed horizontal.

Nailers are made to use in any position so must be something simple to fix. Most likely safety contact foot, to test, remove the nails, remove the trigger to expose the firing button on the trigger valve. Connect air and dry fire onto wood or old coiled rubber hose in various positions. If the gun tests ok then carefully examine safety foot mech. and trigger for loose components missing guide or roll pin. The contact foot must push firmly up on the lever within the trigger thus pushing on the firing button. If the safety foot and trigger are in good conditon and working ok, then problem is within the headvalve and piston orings. To test piston oring, remove airline and nails, point nailer up then down again. The piston should stay in the top position. If the piston moves up /down with movement of gun, replace piston oring. If piston oring ok, remove the head and pull out the headvalve. Apply plenty of silicone paste or white grease to orings on headvalve and reinstall and test. If tests ok, then problem is worn orings in the head /headvalve. You can keep lubing or replace orings. Examine the surface within the head where headvalve orings make contact. If there are many fine scratches, even new orings will not work very well. Try to remove scratches with very fine sandpaper. Good luck

I have a Stanley Bostitch finish nailer n60fn its leaking air from the trigger and housing. Is this something that I can rebuild and if so where can I get the information on how to rebuild it?

The fix it replace the trigger valve. It is a 5 minute job and seems to be a pretty common problem. Bad news is they seem to run about $30. I believe the bostitch # is TVA6

What causes air leak around trigger and loss of compression on bostitch on n79ww modelframing nailer

Are you using air tool oil fairly frequently? Any rubber "O" rings will wear rapidly if not lubricated properly.

Framing gun not firing leaking air aroung trigger

You have a crumbled trigger seal. You can order a new trigger valve through bostitch. It usually takes a couple of weeks though.. Every time I order one it is on backorder. You will need to order trigger valve kit part number TVA11 $21.40. Go to the Bostitch website click on Schematics and Parts to the left then find your model nailer in the search field and select item 53 when the parts list comes up. Click add to cart to order. Another screen will pop up and ask you if you want to checkout. Any questions please post back.

Air is leaking around the trigger. N60FN. How do you replace it?

Yes, you have to drive out the pins. There currently is no rebuild kit. Depending on when your was built there are solutions though.
Carefully drive out the trigger pin first. Then the one retaining the trigger assembly. The trigger assembly is in there pretty good, carefully work it out. Once you remove it, there are two small steel pins holding it together. Remove those...careful there is a spring inside. You can see what's been compromised. Like I said, there don't make repair kits for these, but you can order a replacement assembly.

Good luck.

Pulling the trigger, air is released but nailer is not engaged

Try putting a few drops of light machine oil in the air inlet fitting. If this solves the problem, install an inline air lubricator.

Nailer leaking air

Same situation here with the same model.  Turned out to be lack of pressure coming from the air compressor.  I turned up the pressure a little and things went fine afterwards.
