LOL! That would be the little cleaning stick, used to clean the printer head, which is lodged in the lid inside

I'm getting an error message when trying to print

Error 6C10 appears on certain Canon printers. It is a "valve cam sensor error". Here are some things to try to fix it:

Solution 1:
  • Move the printhead to the center.
  • Disconnect the printer and check on the right: is the purge unit ok? Is there a paper jam or piece of paper stuck in it?
Solution 2:
  • Do a reset of the printer by performing the following:
    • Turn the printer Power ON
    • Hold down the "Resume" button (triangle in a circle) for 15 to 20 seconds.
Solution 3:
  • Power off the printer.
  • Open the door.
  • Power on.
  • When the cartridge is in the center, close the door.
Solution 4:
  • Open the lid and allow the ink cartridge carrier to center itself.
  • Looking to the right, you will see a row of white rollers behind the carrier.
  • At the end of the rollers there is a small, clear piece of plastic that sticks up. Take a small piece of a paper towel and wipe all of the ink off this piece of plastic. When that is clean move on to the ink pad.
  • About 1 inch, towards the front of the printer from that piece of plastic, is a small square, about 1/2 inch per side, that is a small foam pad. This is where the excess ink is collected.
  • Take a piece of paper towel and press into the foam. Do this until the paper towel is no longer collecting ink. Close the lid, turn off the printer then turn it back on.
Solution 5:
Solution 6:
  • Remove case and look for the micro switch that is being pressed by one of the purge unit cams. Clean the switch and the cams. If the problem does not clear, replace the micro switch.

Piece broken by cartridge

I'm not sure what you may have broken, but if it wasn't part of the cartridge, that's not a good sign. Did the new cartridges snap into place ok? Here are the standard instructions for clearing the cartridge light error, which is not uncommon. Here's the replacement procedure, just in case. Here's the home support page, FWIW, and here's an access to parts.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.

2 small rubber pieces have fallen out. any idea

Those pieces go on the clean station and can easily be replaced. They each fit over a stud where the printhead parks and just press on.When they are missing the ink will dry out on your ink cartridges and the machine won't be able to clean them properly.

Long thin plastic piece fell out of Lexmark Z33

Google your printer, try pcappliancerepair.com. This item goes from one side of your printer to the other, passing through the cartridges holder. Look for the places it attaches. You may have to move the cartridge holder to the center to install the plastic.

MY cartridge went haywire today

on the left side inside the chassi there is a small hole with a little metalpart sticking up (about 0.5cm high). On the piece where the inc cartrigde is there is a vertical hole you can see the hole easiest from the left side (about 1cm high). On the right side there should be a 2cm metallic part sticking up from the bottom.

You will probably have to bend one of the parts to get the plastic strip on place, just make sure that once you get it on place to bend them back so that the strip doesn't fall off again.

in my case the metallic parts where bent like: \ (left) and | (right) I had to bend them | and | to get the strip on place and then bend them \ and /. Not sure if the right part should be / or | though.

Hi, if you open the open the printer, unit to gain access to install ink cartridge, if you see the metallic end which has got a hook on both the ends left and right side. the ink cartridge runs between the strip from left to right which should be connected above the ink cartridge meta rod.

< ------------- >metal hooks on left and right above the cartridge rod
======= __ cartridge rod

Let me know for further info.

Cat jumped on top of printer and 2 pieces popped out

Hi there you will have to remove the top cover and you will be able to see where it goes as the roller in question is the paper eject roller. there are usually four screws under the top cover and also at the rear of the machine. The picture where the roller is resting on the top of the printer the roller is situated right under that also that white bushing holds the roller in at one end usually the left as you look at the machine from the front.

Thanks J
