What Does It Mean When Support for My Operating System Ends?

Microsoft Support for Windows Vista (with no service packs installed) ended on April 13, 2010, while support for Windows XP (without Service Pack 3 installed) ended on July 13, 2010. Windows 2000 support ended on July 13, 2010 as well.
There is no Service Pack 3 for the 64-bit version of Windows XP. If you're running the 64-bit version of Windows XP with SP2, you have the latest service pack and will continue to be eligible for support and receive updates until April 8, 2014.
If you are still running a version of Windows where support has ended, it means that version of Windows will no longer receive any updates from the Windows Update or Microsoft Update site. These updates are generally provided for security reasons to help protect the PC from harmful viruses, spyware, malware, and other malicious software. Windows Update also provides new drivers for your hardware that can improve the reliability of Windows.
Hackers love to take a security vulnerability in Windows and exploit it to their advantage. So, if a vulnerability is found in Windows XP or Windows Vista and you are not running the latest service pack, you will not be protected and will be at risk.

How Can I Tell What Service Pack is Installed?
Follow these steps to discover what Service Pack is installed:
1) Click on the Start Button
2) Right-click on either My Computer or Computer (depending on your Windows version)
3) Click on Properties
On this window, it should tell you which version of Windows along with which service pack is installed). It should also tell you whether you are running a 32 bit or 64 bit version of Windows.

From what you're saying I get that you want to install Windows XP with Service Pack 3 on your computer. Are you wanting to replace Vista, or do you want a dual boot system? Do you have a Vista CD as well if you want a dual boot system? Did you receive any other disc's with the computer that may have a driver set on it?

How can i install XP sevice pack2

1) Service Pack 2 is a service pack, not an operating system - you first have to install XP itself, which you'll have to buy.

2) It's entirely possible that there are no XP drivers available for one or more components of your laptop, so XP won't install on it. (Linux probably will.)

Hello,

Did you complete the new install validation process? For most, who have a product key and install CD it may still fail, Microsoft or a tech local to you who can phone Microsoft Licensing and actually help you out, even if you ended up with a Pirated copy without knowing it was pirated. See phone number below.

Do you have full administrator privileges? You can right click the link in your menu and from the drop down list select 'Run as Administrator' and this may solve your problem. If it doesn't you do need Service Pack 1 from Microsoft that fixes more issues you wouldn't be the length of the list. If you can't pass the validation procedure all is not lost but you will need to phone MS from the number below and no matter what they can get you running correctly.

This phone number can actually get you free help from Microsoft themselves here:

Phone Support Wait Time: Will vary
Hours of Operation onepixel.gifNo-charge: Unlimited support requests.
(866) 234-6020
According to Microsoft, downloading Service Pack 1 should resolve this problem as well as others only if you've validated your copy of Vista.

The download link for 32bit Vista service pack 1 is here.
The download link for 62bit Vista service pack 1 is here.

Don't know which you have, then you probably have 32bit.

Sorry this isn't an easy How-to Fix It, but the problems with Vista are far ranging. And after the service pack install, the issue will probably go away.

Kind Regards,
Worldvet
