Address label possibly stuck in printer

There is a rectangular mark (the size of an address label) on each page I'm printing. Before that, I did print some self-adhesive address labels. My hunch is that a label is possibly stuck somewhere in the printer. I called Epson and they told me to check the photoconductor and transfer unit but I didn't find anything there. I followed all the paper jam instructions but still no luck. Do you have any idea how I can solve this problem? Thanks so much for your valuable assistance!

I've followed the advices of two of your members - problem still not solved. I don't get any error messages but the printing is really bad.

Hi rolb,

It's stuck alright, stuck in the driver memory, try updating your printer drivers:

Create a new folder on your desktop and name it newhpdrivers(substitute your manufacturer in new name). Un-intall printer and printer software completely. Go to manufacturers website and navigate to their drivers/downloads or support menu. Select your model, choose the relevant software and download to the new folder you created on your desktop. Power down your computer. Reconnect the printer to the computer and turn printer on. Power on pc. Windows will detect new hardware and ask if you have the manufacturers install cd or a location to check for install files. Direct the wizard to your new software, follow the rest of the setup instructions and your done.

Some times all the technical procedure wont help at such a time.actually wats happened in ur case the gluish toner is stuck up on the rollers in the rectangular shape.and that is giving the image on the printouts.
just pass the thick card paper type A4 size paper in the printer between the rollers manually and pull it backward and forward few times with your hand so the gluish toner will be rubbed on the paper.and it will be cleaned by that card paper.dont take very thick card paper.
and then try it will work.

hope this helps......
thanks.

Hi, Does every print fade the rectangular mark? If so, it may be gone after few dummy prints.
If you want to remove and clean the photoconductor, Follow the steps to remove it: http://files.support.epson.com/htmldocs/cx11nf/cx11nfug/maint_3.htm

After you remove it should look something like this: http://www.euroffice.co.uk/_image/item/_large/1338XM_0.jpg

Just rotate those cylinders and look for any molten colored (label imprint) on the cylindrical drum. clean it carefully w/o leaving any scratches on it.
and put it back into your printer.
Should be fine now.
Happy printing.

The way laser's work is, it uses heat (that's the Fuser part) to melt the toner onto the paper. Your hunch is correct. Remove the Photoconductor unit and closely inspect the "drum" for anything that shouldn't be there.

Photoconductor is like a negative, it gets the image information and charges itself negatively so the toner will stick to it. Then the paper while being sucked in is charged positively, and when it passes the photoconductor, it'll attract the negatively charged toner.

Also check if your laser comes with a "magic wand" at the side of the machine, it's actually a brush to clean a mirror inside that's part of the printing process.

Inspect & clean rollers, where the adhesive label might have passed, that you can see / reach.

Print labels and envelopes

With the HP ENVY 110 series, you can print on a single envelope, a group of envelopes, or label sheets
designed for inkjet printers.

To print a group of addresses on labels or envelopes

1. Print a test page on plain paper first.
2. Place the test page on top of the label sheet or envelope, and hold both up to the light. Check the spacing for
each block of text. Make adjustments as needed.
3. Load the labels or envelopes into the paper tray.
CAUTION: Do not use envelopes with clasps or windows. They can get stuck in the rollers and cause
paper jams.
4. Slide paper-width guides inward against the stack of labels or envelopes until the guides stop.
5. Select the appropriate options.
• On -Paper/Quality- tab select a Plain paper type.
• Click the [Advanced] button, and select the appropriate envelope size from the Paper Size drop down
menu.
6. Click [OK], and then click [Print] or [OK] in the Print dialog box.

If you print from within a program that DOES have that listed (like M$ Word,) then you don't need the limited printer driver to specify the paper size.

How to print both return address and to address on ?size 10 envelopes

Open Microsoft Office Word.
Open File > Page Setup > Paper size > Envelope #10 (in Office Word 2003)
or
Open Page Layout > Size > Envelope #10 (in Office Word 2007 / 2010)

Then type the address like usual typing and print it.

I've found website to do this manually, but I'm not sure what the printer is. You can check out in here :

Envelopes and labeles

Go the "print" dialog and select "settings". Ensure that the paper size, margins and orientation are not set for 8.5x11.  You did not mention the software you are using to print the envelopes/labels so this is the only guess I can give.   I have seen software that made me have to override the settings before.
