Question about Toshiba TZ50V51 50" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Re-install TV screen

You told me to pull hard on the housing and it should come off. Should I pull at one of the corners (it seems tighter there) or the middle (more flexible)? I don't want to crack the housing if I can help it. Sorry for so many questions.

grab the bottom edge - start at a bottom corner and pull down and away .. It will feel like its gonna break but it won't . There are snaps , one in the middle and one near each corner. Pop one and work your way across. The whole bottom part below the screen frame will come off with the power button . Just pull hard as close as you can to where it's attached.

There is a shadow in the upper left corner of the screen

someone is going to have to look inside by either removing the rear upper part of the set or removing the entire front screen---neither is easy to do. But considering your trouble I would not be surprised if the mirror is cracked---the entire front screens would have to be removed to replace the mirror--special mirror and special handling--I have seen several break when someone is not careful putting in.

LAMP REPLACEMENT SONY KDF42WE655

I think on this model, you will need to remove the lower front facia. There are 2 thumbwheels located on the back side of the TV near the lower left and right corners, unscrew them and then firmly grasp the panel and pull from one end. It will seem that the panel is going to break but you have to pull hard to pop it off. Once the panel is off, you'll see the lamp door with its own thumbwheel. Unscrew it and remove the door. The lamp is held in place by 2 allen or hex screws. You'll need an allen wrench of the proper size to remove them. Make sure the lamp is not hot, and then pull it out. Reverse the procedure to install the new one.
