Have you tried another monitor with the computer to make sure you have signal coming out? If you have missing or corrupt video drivers in the computer or have memory seated on the motherboard incorrectly it will cause the same symptoms. If you have checked all these before now, disregard this.
I know that monitors do go out, but rarely. 90% of the time , it's not getting a signal from the computer due to a freeze from hardware or computer driver issue.
