So well meaning person disconnected the three wires going to HD LED, Power etc..now I do not know what they were connected too originally.

Look along the edge of the motherboard for markings next to a set of pins. You may see markings to indicate what pins go where. Use the old board to help examine where the pins may be located. HD will go to your HD LED - Polarity will be important here, so when you get it wired, if it does not light you will need to reverse the wires on the pins. Power will go next to a Power indication, and the last probably will be a RESET. Once you get them hooked up properly, they should work for you.

You may be able to download the manual from here: http://www.retrevo.com/search/v2/jsp/mytrevo/myTrevo.jsp?page=man

I need to know the sequence on how to connect my Power LED, Reset Switch, HDD LED, and M/B Switch up correctly. I have an MS-7142 VER:1 Can you help me?

Hi carlmtclem, your not alone when it comes to hooking up the right led connector to the MSI MB. Firstly, you need to know what wire color is positive & which is negative. Most commonly the color white is ground/negative. Wire colors do vary from case to case. So look at your case led wires. Which ever color is common for each 2-pin connector, is negative. (Except the speaker wire).
All other colors are positive.
(The speaker wire color for negative is usually black & red is positive).
Your MSI board has two separate sets of pins.
JFP2 is used for the speaker only. Do not connect the power led there.

Pin one for JFP1 is shown in the manual. Pin 1 is positive & pin 3 is negitive for the HDD-LED, ECT.

Thats it.

Post here.
Good luck carlmtclem!
Thank you for using fixya.

The only way to to fix this if your headers on your wires aren't labeled is to trace them back from the switch it self. Usually they are white and red. The orientation on the motherboard pins doesn't matter since it's only a switch. Make sure you are putting the plug onto the power switch jumpers, and not the power led, reset, etc..

This board I think is an OEM board built by Asus for HP computers. Also named Pegasus.
Go here to find a PDF manual for that particular board -
http://www.ctechinfo.org/manuals/pegasus_manual.pdf
On page 22, the last page, it shows you the pin-out for the connections for the front panel, ie - power button, reset, led's, etc. Hope this helps.
