Question about Hannspree 22" widescreen LCD Flat Panel HD Monitor

Distorted images due to wide screen

My images on my web site look "fat" and stocky because of the wide screen. Is there a way to resize a web page to have it look like it does on a square computer?

Hi
Your entire desktop is probably stretched left to right.
You need to adjust the resolution of your computers video card in the display properties to one that the widescreen will accept correctly.
There is a chance that your video card may not have the correct resolutions available. If this is the case then you may be stuck with this view until you change coputers or video cards.
to get to display properties based on win2k or xp
Right click in the center of your desktop, choose properties, go to settings and there you should see the resolutions available. Try different ones till you find a good one, you may have to settle for one that is close to your monitors setup if the exact one isn't available.
If using a laptop with a standard screen with the wide monitor, you may need to disable the laptop screen and use just the monitor to get the correct resolution on the monitor.

Create a large circle image using a draw program such as Paint (hold down theShift key as you create the circle as it will draw a perfect circle).
Open Control Panel - Display - Settings tab and adjust the Screen resolutionslider, increase or decrease the screen resolution then bring the circle imageto the front and check the image, if the circle is still distorted then changethe screen resolution and check the circle again until you are satisfied withthe image of the circle. How do I adjust the image width on this wide screen? Everything appears distorted and wider than it is. I would like a narrower image.

This is one of the problems with the wide aspect screen. Most images seem to fit best on the older monitors.
You can go into the video properties and choose one the the display types that best display your image. Unfortunately, by taking a normal (to us) image that looked just fine on an older monitor and displaying it on a newer, wide-aspect monitor, you're gonna distort the image or crop it in a way you didn't expect.
My advice is to experiment with the display until you find something you can live with.

Image is distorted. Display is too wide

You probably have one of the newer wide-aspect displays. You will need to go to the display settings and choose another screen resolution to make the display look better.

This is one of the problems that you encounter when getting a wide-aspect monitor. But with a different resolution, you can do it.

How do I adjust the 22 in. rectangular screen to prevent images from appearing wider than normal. For example, pictures of persons make them look fat and wide.

You can use any other image viewing software such as Picasa. It will open images at 100% size but you can change the size of images

You most likely have a wide screen and the screen resolution needs to be adjusted to suit the monitor.
Go to the Control Panel - Display and adjust the screen resolution until you get a normal image and correct screen aspect screen ratio. Start with a screen resolution of 1024X768 and gradually increase it until you get an image that suits your screen.

Monitor image size

There is nothing wrong with the monitor, the issue is that the web page you are looking at is designed for a lower resolution than you LCD is set for (Web pages are normally designed for 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768) you like have a wide aspect ratio monitor.

As I sit here writing this on my 12" wide aspect LCD I have a 2" wide white space on each side of my screen due to my 1280 x 800 aspect ratio.

The issue is one of WEB PAGE DESIGN not the fault of your computer video settings. The web page is written using page frames and fixed aspect ration settings to ensure that the page displays properly regardless of monitor type.

If you had a high end LCD (WUXGA 1920 x 1200), the web page would fill the upper left 1/4 of the screen.

If you lower the resolution of your display, then you'll have fuzzy icons and text, so essentially, get used to it.

Eventually, wed design will catch up with current display technology.
