Question about Canon Digital Rebel / EOS-300D Digital Camera with EF-S 18-55mm Lens

1 Answer

File size Hi, I have a Canon Digital Rebel and no instruction manual. I am trying to attach some photos of an item onto a craig's list ad but the pictures are too "large" (too much data) for craig's list to handle. How can I retake the pictures at a lower resolution? In other words, how do I adjust the camera setting to lower the resolution? Thanks, Steve

Don't retake the photos, just resize them on your computer. Copy them to the system, My Pictures directory and use the photo tool to resize them to thumbnail. 2 minutes worth of work.

What does "BUSY" mean on my Canon Rebel T1i, while I'm trying to upload pictures onto my computer?

It means that the transfer is in process. It's letting you know that you shouldn't turn off your camera - it is busy!

Changing file/photo size

Image size: Press the FUNC/SET button. Use cursor-up/down to select the current image size at the lower-left corner. Use cursor-right/left to select the desired size and press FUNC/SET.

File size (compression): Same as above, except choose the item just above the image size.

Full instructions are in the "Changing the Recording Pixels/Compression (Still images)" section of the manual (page 57 in my copy). If you need a manual, you can download one from the manufacturer's web site at

Resolution

The XTi allow to set different image size for manual modes an for AUTO modes. So you can set a Large size superfine for auto and RAW type for manual modes. So check the size settings under manual and automatic modes.

However, the "smal" resolution (1936x1288 px) on XTi will allow you to print good 5x7 photos.

Pixel Problem with printing pics from Canon 1000D

I would check the file size of your individual photos on your computer. If the large size is in the megabyte range and the image dimension (11 X14 etc.) is normal it's probably the Wal-Mart's fault.

Canon Rebel EOS - Pictures download read Low Resolution

Canon Digital Rebel cameras let you set the image resolution from small jpegs (low resolution) to large jpegs (high resolution) to RAW (best quality, but require post-processing in your computer before you can print them). It's possible that as you were getting to know your camera you accidentally set the image size and quality to a low setting. Now you just need to change it back!

You make this change in the on-screen menu, under the camera menu (first menu, with a camera icon), first item (Quality). Although Canon no longer has the manual for this camera online, you can see This Review Page for more details on where to change this setting on your camera.

Unable to send anything if photo's attached

This common if you use a third party email service or you have slow connection,
Try resizing the image you are sending to the smallest size (using your picture softwate, MS office picture manger works great) and then send it. If this works then continue resizing to a larger size until you get to a point that the image sends OK and the reciprient can view the image.
Hope this helps

HI! DID YOUR CANON REBEL COME WITH ANY SOFTWARE? AND, WHAT OS ARE YOU USING? AND WHAT PHOTO PROGRAM ARE YOU USING?
I KNOW WITH WINDOWS PHOTO GALLERY, HITTING FILE>IMPORT FROM CAMERA OR FILE THE PROGRAM WILL AUTOMATICALLY TRY TO FIND YOUR CAMERA. ARE YOU SURE THAT THE CABLE YOU ARE USING IS WORKING? IT MIGHT HAVE QUIT IF IT HAD HEAVY USE. TRY A DIFFERENT CABLE IF POSSIBLE. IF YOUR CANON CAME WITH SOFTWARE, I WOULD TRY A RE-INSTALL OR REPAIR OF ANY PROGRAM IT HAD. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT SOMETHING HAS HAPPENED TO EITHER THE PROGRAM FROM THE CANON OR THE PHOTO PROGRAM YOU ARE USING. TRY TO UPDATE THE PHOTO PROGRAM IF THERE IS A NEWER VERSION. THIS MIGHT ALSO HELP SOLVE THIS PROBLEM. OK? IF NOT, JUST REPLY WITH THE TOP QUESTIONS AND WE'LL SEE WHAT WE CAN COME UP WITH.
