Question about Singer CE-100 Futura Computerized Sewing Machine

4 Answers

I have a singer futura ce-250/ce-350 machine.

I have read and followed the directions of threading this machine to a T; still the thread is bunching and the E1 indicator comes on. The bobbin is correct, the threading is correct and this d_____ machine can't perform a straight stich without bunching. I've also tried every tension and it still the thread bunches and the indicator comes on. PLEASE help. I have had this machine for almost a year and have only used it four times.

You need to do a tension test
Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} Tension assembly test. To do this test. Pull the thread through the tension assembly and test it to make sure the tension is working correctly.
(To do this test, adjust your tension setting to normal or medium or 5 or something in the middle. Raise the presser foot and pull the thread through the tension. It should pull easily!! Lower the presser foot and pull the thread. It should pull noticeably harder.)
If it doesn’t work this way then you probably have a piece of thread or lint stuck inside the tension discs. To remove it, turn the tension to 0 zero and raise the presser foot.Using a small screwdriver, open the space between the discs and spray with canned or compressed air. The stuff should come out. Do the tension test again to make sure you got everything and then try sewing again.

I have been sewing for quite some time on other machines. I assumed I knew all that I needed to do and I have the same problem, bunching undeneathe. I found out my problem was twofold. One when you thread the top part - you should pull the thread back and forth in the top thread guide. (#1 in the manual page 6). The second thing was the curly tail in front. It really needs both of these. I hope this helps you. Made me feel really inexperienced. I actually pulled out the manual.

I have a Futura ce250 that the embroidery unit stoped working due to a bad stepper motor. Singer want to sell me on for $250 dollars. Is that a way to just purchase a replacement assembly or get a new assembly with out having to purchase the single motor stepper motor for that price. Singer has no service any where, I've contacted them. They will not return my calls or emails. I like the Unit but the Singer customer service is (COMNA A GO).

I have the Futura 250 & every time I sew quickly or use the embroidery, my bobbin bowl pops up and jams everything. I pulled out the manual to make sure I am threading the bobbin correctly. It says to pull thread to the left until I hear a click. I never hear a click. Does this matter?

bunching of thread under the material is an indication of insufficient tension of the needle thread

I need elp with tension on singer cg550

You didn't explain the symptoms. Is the thread bunching, looping, knotting under the fabric? Is the bobbin thread rising to the top of the fabric?

If it is bunching under the fabric, it is probably what is called thread nesting or bird nesting. There are several fixes, sometimes more than one fix is required to resolve the issue.

Be sure to clean under the needle plate, around the bobbin, and the feed dogs. If the machine has instructions for oiling, follow the directions using a fresh, good quality sewing machine oil and apply only 1-2 drops each spot.

Install a brand new needle. Make sure you are using a needle compatible with the thread and fabric being used. All About Needles
Best practice is to use the same thread in both the upper and bobbin. Also, avoid old or bargain bin thread. Spend an extra couple of dollars to reduce frustration and increase success with your machine. If you wish, you may use two different colors of thread to test so you can easily determine what is happening with the tension.

Remove the thread from the machine. RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning--the thread needs to be seated firmly in the tension disk. Verify that the correct thread path is followed (consult the owner's manual).

Set the upper tension to the midway point between high & low numbers (this is the factory standard and is a good place to start, but every machine is different and may need adjustment).

Confirm that the bobbin is installed in the bobbin case (turning the correct direction) and that the bobbin case is threaded properly.

Before beginning to stitch, hand rotate the handwheel one rotation and pull the bobbin thread to the top of the fabric. Then, gently hold the thread tails in the left hand and slowly begin to stitch.

Test.

If thread is bunching, looping under the fabric, the upper tension is too loose. Tighten it and retest. On most machines, the lower the tension number, the looser the tension.

If the bobbin thread is rising to the top of the fabric, the upper tension is too tight. Loosen the upper tension and retest.

Keep adjusting and testing until it is where you want it. Generally, tension is correct when both threads (upper & bobbin) meet in the middle of the fabric. FWIW, tension is static and should be tested and readjusted every time a new project is begun. The needle, thread, and fabric will affect the tension, so it is important to get comfortable adjusting the tension.

Sewing machine not cars

try changing the needle
rethread the machine top & bobbin
make sure to use every thread guide
make sure the bobbin is turned the right direction in the bobbin case
if the bobbin is turned the wrong way in the bobbin case it will
cause sewing problems,,( believe me,,)
make sure the top thread has not come off the thread take up lever

3. The needle is bent or blunt
4. The needle is incorrectly inserted
5. The needle thread & the bobbin thread are not set under the presser foot when starting to sew

When i sew the bobbin thread bunches up. what to do?

remove the thread and bobbin.
take out your manual and follow the exact instructions for threading and inserting bobbin.

If this does not help check the tension on the top(the number should be about mid way).
If it is too low it will bunch up on the bottom.

The bobbin thread keeps bunching up on my 990 machine

It is probably not the bobbin thread that is "bunching", put different color top (maybe red), and bobbin (maybe white), thread in the machine and sew. If the top thread is messing up on the bottom of the cloth you have 3 possible solutions. Here are the solutions in order of probability:
1 - You have not threaded the UPPER thread correctly. Read your book on threading.
2 - Your UPPER thread tension is too low. Try setting it at 5 or so.
3 - Your shuttle is damaged. Get a new one.

The bobbin thread breaks

if upper thread is breaking
1. needle in backward
2.upper tension to tight-check manual for proper setting
3.needle maybe bent-try rolling needle on flat surface to see if it's bent & if so replace
4.thread may hang on bobbin case-check area for lent or fragments of old threads
5. knotty or cheap thread-always use good quality thread
if lower thread is breaking
1.the most probable cause of lower thread breaking is an inproperly wound bobbin
2.bent bobbin
3.lint built up in case
4. thread catching on a spring or latch

I have a Singer Futura CE-150 and it keeps stopping due to "Thread break error" but the thread and bobbin seem okay what could it be?

Either upper thread is not passing through thread sensor area or sensor is broken.
Second possible reason is that if design is not optimized the sporadic speed change provides thread breakage error even if the thread is not broken physically. Make sure your software is updated to optimize it automatically (Futura main menu->Help->Live Update).
