Question about Packard Bell PC Desktops

1 Answer

Hi, I wonder someone could help me. My computer is IMEDIA 1901, S/N 038958820300 with Windows XP. It was working all right until 3 days ago. Now after power is on, I have Packardbell logo screen, then black and whilte screen asking me to choose from several options, i.e.Safe mode or Safe mode with networking or Safe mode with command prompt or Start windows normally. If I chose start Windows normally, I have Windows XP logo screen but then start all over again. If I chose Safe mode, I have another black and white screen and many charactors, but it stops after line saying, multi(0)disc(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\system32\drivers\agpCPQ.sys. Would you give me an instruction how to recover please?

Hi.

Even i once had this problem.
There are two solution.
First remove the ram and wipe it then fit it again.
If this doesn't help then get the system formatted.

Hope this will help you (By the way it did helped me)

Regards
Faraz

I have a Packard Bell Imedia desktop not sure of the model. It was working fine until recently, I switched on my pc and after the boot screen "NTLDR is missing Alt Ctrl Del" message appeared....

Remove the hard disk and attach it to an USB hard drive adapter and then connect it into the USB port of a working computer. This computer will detect the hard drive as an external storage device, then you can open the various folders and files to copy your files to this computer or burn your data to a CD/DVD disc or USB flash drive.
Return you hard disk back to your Packard Bell so you can reinstall Windows.

How to repair Windo XP Pro. SP-3. Midea Plaire is also not working.

Hi Good day!!! Here are some ways to repair your winXP

Repair Windows XP Files with System Restore

1. Save your work and close all open programs. Click Start, then Control Panel, then Performance and Maintenance. On the left side of the screen, click "System Restore."

2. Select "Restore my computer to an earlier time." Click Next.

3. Click a date with a bolded number in the calendar on the left. Make sure this date is at least 1 day in the past. On the right side of the window, select a restore point. Click "Next" twice to restore your system.

Repair Windows XP Files With the Installation CD

1. Back up all of your user files onto removable media such as CDs or DVDs. Find your Windows XP installation or recovery CD, and insert it into the optical drive that your computer can boot from. Click Start, then Turn Off Computer, then Restart to reboot your computer. When the "Press any key to boot from CD" message appears, press a key on your keyboard. Press "Enter" to start Windows XP setup, and press F8 to accept the licensing agreement.

2. Select the path of your Windows installation and press "R" to begin repairing it.

3. Follow the instructions provided by the Windows XP repair program and finish the reinstallation. Go to the Microsoft website and download Service Pack 2 from their website, then visit Windows Update to install Windows XP Service Pack 3, critical updates and Internet Explorer 7.

After the computer running XP SP3 rebooted twice on its own I checked the event viewer and found the error code 1000007e. I installed ram 3 days ago with no issues until today. Could this be the problem...

Hi ive never heard of XP SP3 causing those problems it has to be the ram you installed was it secondhand? Try putting the configuration back to how it was and see how it goes. Sometimes just cleaning the contacts on the ram will fix the problem, if you can find 1 get anold ink erasor and gently clean the contacts you can buy similar from good PC shops. Good luck from Scott

Hi there, the disks will only work if you have the drive that came with the laptop/dekstop

You will need to get hold of an OEM version of Windows XP Home - you can reinstall from scratch, but will need to install the drives etc for your computer seperately,

You will use the licence key that was proved with your computer.

That will sort it out.

Laptop help again :)

Don't panic, the situation is not too bad, as the laptop's hardware is still all ok.
The Ghost software probably did not work because you did not make a complete bootable ghost CD from Windows when computer was working, or you did not do the ghosting procedure properly, or finally the ghost cd is corrupted.
if F11 does not work, it means that the recovery partition on hard disk had probably been corrupted by the virus.
Check if your laptop is covered by some insurance or extended guaranty to cover expenses for system reinstall.
Best way to proceed is asking a copy of restore cd fro your model from HP.
Contact them and ask how to obtain a copy of CD in your region, In UK they charge you £25 or so to send you the disk.
If for some reason you cannot get the restore cd, you will have to re-install system from a generic windows cd, possibly the same Windows version to validate the licence on Windows sticker at the bottom of your laptop (eg. Vista Home, XP home edition, XP professional etc.).
If you have to use a generic Windows disk you will need to download all drivers from HP. and install them after installing Windows.
Also a good choice can be locating a computer repair shop in your area and having the system re-install done using the licence number printed on the sticker at the bottom of your laptop. This job usually is not too expensive, in London, where I work, we charge £45 to do system restore.
Good luck.

Trouble with my new acer aspire desktop computer

Slow boot problems on any computers are due to 2 reasons :
(1) Hardware reasons and
(2)Software reasons

(TRY THE SOLUTION MENTIONED FOR SOFTWARE FIRST, IF THAT DOES NOT HELP, ONLY THEN TRY THE HARDWARE SOLUTION)

HARDWARE REASONS> if your system has less RAM (memory) then it can cause slow boot up issues,
SOLUTION FOR HARDWARE > I recommend you to check the amount of memory on your system., to check the memory on your system , click on start , then "right click" on "my computer " icon and select properties.. on the screen you will the the amount of RAM installed. I recommend 1 GB of RAM on a computer.

SOFTWARE REASONS> These can be a problem with the windows XP operating system.
SOLUTION FOR SOFTWARE> perform the steps as mentioned in the following links :
http://www.microsoft.com/atwork/getstarted/speed.mspx

(Click on the above link)

All the best

Have a nice day!
