As this did'nt come with a re-start disc, is there anyway around this?

-   Missing or corrupt win/sys32/config/ sys file problem on an Asus eee 900. There is no install CD, no CD drive even if I had a Windows CD. Any suggestions?-   Brenday
The best thing to do is borrow a Win XP cd from a friend and do the following:
When you boot with the Win XP install CD-ROM, it loads a minimal operating system, similar to DOS, but compatible with Win XP. At the first screen you select install Win XP (not Recovery Console) and at the next screen it will find that you already have Win XP and offer to attempt a repair. This repair should not touch your applications, it just re installs the Windows files. This is great because when it works and you don't need to reinstall all your software. If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it. Thanks, Joe

- You need to use a OEM Win XP cd. That cd you used may be looking for the unit it was programmed for.

My Laptop does not see the DVD Drive - it is also not in the BIOS when booting up. When Booting up, I am able to open the eject button, however when in Windows, it is fully disabled. Occasionally the drive will make a huge noise. Also occasionally it will also re-appear, and I am able to use it whilst logged in, if I sign out or restart I will lose the use of the drive. I am at a loss on how to deal with this. Please help
