Hello I got this printer a month ago Normaly this printer works fine with USB ou Wifi connexion.
My problem concerns the 5PGPK ink cartridge Some time i have an error message saying that the printer has two black cartriges and only choice is to cancel print. Other time I have a message saying that this cartrige is not correctely installed, I have to remove it and insert it again, but this action does not work every time. It seams that the problem apears more and more frequently. Is it a problem of the cartrige, the printer or drivers (last version downloaded from the canon site) Thank if you have solution.
SOUNDS TO ME LIKE YOU ARE NOT USING OEM CARTS WITH OEM INK AND ARE HAVING TROUBLE. ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS FOLLOW CANON'S INSTRUCTIONS IN THE MANUAL.

With all due respect, a one month old printer shouldn't require cleaning of electrical contacts! Sounds like a glitch in the new Canon cartridge chip system. It tells you if the cartridges are in place properly, if they are the correct cartridges for the printer, and the ink levels. Sounds like that is where your problem lies. Better technology with chipped cartridges??? Who needed them, anyway (except for Canon to cut off the aftermarket ink users at the pass!)

Oliver - for what it's worth, contact Canon customer support about this issue. Although the problem may be a defective cart chip, it may also be a problem with the circuitry in the print head or printer. Canon may have had several calls on the same subject and may respond with either new carts, a print head, or a printer. Yours may be the first report on this NG about a problem Canon may be experiencing across the new pixma product line.
... Of course the cartrige is the original one delivered with he box and had worked several times. Now the printer refuses to work, saying that the cartrige cannot be identified (with 15 orange ligth blinks) I will try to replace it (but only print 10 pages !)

I have just changed the ink cartridges but the printer is not used for quite some time. After it is switched on, all seems normal except that the printer can't form feed the paper to print. The papers are placed properly and print job is in order, but even I have reset the printer a few times, it still does not print. Please advise the solution. Thanks.

I have a Canon Pixma iP5200R which has been going great up and until now! Now the print outs are coming out in colour but with purple tinge. Checked all cartridges - switched off computer and printer and restarted. This solved it for about 5 print outs, now it is back. Why?
