any re enforced plastic sheeting will be water proof
if you want to use a fabric such as what tents are made of , you van make it water proof by soaking it in liquid silicon and then letting it dry out
the silsicon seals the fabric and allows the water to run off
Most mirrors are held in place with 3 bolts. If all are removed, the mirror should come off relatively easily. If it is electric, there will be a wiring harness that has to be disconnected as well. The door panel may have to be removed to access all 3 bolts and for seperation of any electrical connectors
If it's going to be for 3 months, or less, tuck it away and cover it with a tarp. If it's going to be for more than 3 months, drain the gas and run the unit until it's used the gas in the carb. Pull the spark plug and give a light squirt of WD-40 into the cylinder, then put the plug back. If the oil is well used and starting to look dirty, change it. Otherwise, wait until getting it ready for use to change the oil. Cover with tarp. You want something that will keep the majority of water and dirt off, but allow moisture to escape.
The foam in critical to locate the magnetic cone correctly, silicone will not do that. The repair is quite reasonable and my speaks worked correctly when I got them back.
TO answer all your questions, the red oring is for the oil pump pickup tube, one bolt will fix that, RTV sealet is used in the seperation seams at the timing cover and rear seal retainer, 1/6th thick bead, 1/4" wide at seams, has for the trans inspection cover remove it for the repair, 5 bolts will do that part, and rear bracket, then the pan is ready to come off... if you get four sturdy poles (not normal tent poles) then the best thing to do is to stake the four poles into the ground at a 60 degree angle with the top away from the tent and then use the tension created by the angle to support the tarp.
more than likely you have a foreign object jamming the water pump nickle dime quarter etc clean the pump out it should work fine if its 4 monthes old you can call for service but if its something jamming the pump its not coverd by warrenty
