Question about Apple iPod nano

1 Answer

Click wheel faulty

I purchased an iPod from eBay and despite the seller being quite reputable their refurbishment of the iPod nano wasn't that great. I'm unable to get a replacement but the click wheel, mainly the play and pause as well as turn off and turn on requires a very very hard push to work. Adjusting the volume in that area has no issues, it's just pushing down the button, the sensor seems to have been destroyed. Any ideas fixing it?

Heads up, don't buy from grooveytech, he didn't even put a new battery inside this "refubished" product.

Hi,
Sorry to hear about your experience. Unfortunately, click wheel problems on nanos are not an easy fix for most people. It sounds like the seller may have tried it and it is not connected properly. It is generally easier to get another case with the click wheel and put your circuit board into it. It is not an easy job.

If I were you, if it has not been a long time, I would try to get my money back through ebay by filing a 'not as described' complaint. ebay will go to bat for you and ask the seller to give your money back or they will pay you and then get the money back from the seller.

Or, you could resell the iPod on ebay as is.....broken. People buy them broken and use them for parts. You would get some of your money back. Hope that helps.

New Ipod Nano 4th Gen 16GB has went blank and will not turn on

HI there,

worst case scenario is that a circuit has broken inside. But your ipod will be under warrenty for a year from purchase.

Otherwise, leave the ipod to charge for a long time. Just leave it connected directly to the computer USB port despite not having any change in appearance. Also, don't connect it via a usb hub or through your keyboard. You will need to plug it into your computer directly.

You can also try entering DFU mode. Here is a great step by step guide to do that. http://iphonefreakz.com/beginners-guide/howto-dfu-mode/

Then restore the ipod and update the firmware. Make sure you have the latest version of itunes installed. By checking through software update.

I hope this helps,

Nathan.

Apple Ipod Nano 3rd Gen Volume troubles

Seems like a manufacturers fault on your click wheel. The new nano's have their click wheels held in place with just a strong adhesive so this one might be slightly out of place.Take it straight back as faulty. Make sure inside your headphone socket isn't red else Apple will say it's water damaged.

To reset an iPod with a Click Wheel, including: ipodnano3.jpg ipodclassic.jpg icon_ipod_5g.gif ipodnano2.jpg ipodnano.jpg ipodphoto.gif ipodg4.gif ipodmini.gif
  • iPod nano (3rd generation)
  • iPod classic
  • iPod (5th generation)
  • iPod nano (2nd generation)
  • iPod nano
  • iPod with color display (iPod photo)
  • iPod (Click Wheel)
  • iPod mini
  • iPod mini (2nd generation)
  1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
Tip: If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.
