Open the top cover and turn off. Try to move the carriage by hand. Put a couple drops of oil on the long silver shaft, work it back and forth.

This does not sound good!

The Paper Jam message may appear on the display if the Brother machine is not feeding paper correctly, paper scraps stucked or the paper is not loaded properly in the paper tray, the jam clear cover located in the back of the machine, is not installed properly or the PE Actuator is missing or damaged.

My Brother MFC 9840 will not take the paper in from the paper tray. It makes VERY loud clicking noises... as if it can't "grab" the paper.

It sounds like you need to replace your paper pickups. You can contact Brother support to find out how much they'll cost and to get replacement instructions.

I am principal at the Petite Martinique R. C. School on the island of Petite Martinique in Grenada. We have a brother mfc-9450cdn printer. We are currently experiencing problems with the printer which...

The error "print unable 20" is normally caused by a Hardware/Electronic error: a 'printing' laser 'diode' is not working. I am afraid that you may need to get it fixed, hopefully under warranty: contact your local Brother Printer service centre for instructions.

Good luck!

Brother MFC 9440CN - I am getting "Document Jam"

Take the cover off of the ADF, rub clean the rollers with a damp cloth. Make sure there is no paper stuck in the area Also, check that the sensor flags are activating. just move them back and they should bounce back to normal position. Cleaning should do the trick.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response. Thanks, Joe

My Brother MFC 440cn is on "offline", how ge it back to "online"?? Richard Lyman, Suffolk, VA

Check to make sure the usb cable is connected to the back of the printer and to the usb port on your computer. If your using a usb hub, remove and reconnect the printer cable. Windows should redetect it, but you may have to reboot.

Brother mfc 9429cn

we have two of these printers, they seem tohave a problem with the opc belt drifting to one side, insist they swap it before its out a warranty, the next problem you will have is the fuser unit which will start to make a noise and jam prints, again this has happened with both my printers, they are both destined for the scrap heap at 18 months old as brother want nearly as much for the fuser as they do for the printer
