Hi.

Whenever anyone try to run a program which is not compatible with windows aero vista changes the color scheme to vista basic to prevent conflicts.
This is a normal problem and there is nothing to worry about it.
Sometimes even dream scene is stopped due to incompatibility.

If you have anyother question you can ask me.

Regards
Faraz

Aero effect is missing

Let Windows Vista start normally and log into your personal account. You do not need administrative privileges to enable or disable the Aero effect, as it is a personal setting and can be different for each user
  • Right-click on an empty space on the desktop to bring up the desktop's context menu. Make sure you're not clicking on an icon or a file as this will open an entirely different context menu.
  • Click "Properties" in the context menu. This will open a window containing various setting for Windows Vista's desktop.
  • Click on the drop-down menu and select the "Windows Color and Appearance" option.
  • Select one of the color schemes you wish to use for your Windows appearance. By default it is set to clear glass (marked "Default"). Simply click on the color scheme you wish to use.
  • Click on the box marked "Enable Transparency" to enable or disable the Aero effect. If there is a check in the box, transparency is enabled.
  • Use the slider marked "Transparency" to adjust the level of transparency you wish to use for the Windows Aero effect. The further right along the slider, the more transparent your windows will appear.
  • Click the "OK" button to enable your changes. You may click the "Cancel" button if you are unhappy with your adjustments and simply wish to leave the settings as they are.

right click on desktop and select personalize or select same from control panel. first option is to change Window Colour and Appearance, you can then select from the list the bit you would like to change and select the new colours.

    Game/Vista

One issue I have had with vista is the color schemes. Sometimes when I play a video with VLC media player, I get a msg saying the color scheme has been changed temporarily to Vista Basic due to rendering compatibility issues. Perhaps your game has the same compatibility issue. If that is the problem, then one thing I would check is your color scheme, and try playing your game with the most basic settings (display and color) and see if that helps. Also I would try updating your display driver if you haven't already.
