Ariston diswasher trips out as soon as door closed

Hi,

I have an Ariston K-LS 45/50 UK integrated dishwasher that trips out the mains switch as soon as I shut the door to start running the program. I don't know how old it is, as it was here when I bought the house 3 years ago, but is this a common/known fault?

This may be nothing, but the heater element is coloured brown for the first 6 inches from the point it emerges from the bottom of the bottom of the machine, while the rest of it is the "normal" greyish silver colour

Thanks in advance

Adam

    Hi,

Thanks for that. I got round to looking in to the problem this weekend and it turned out that one of the ligh bulbs in the push button board had perished to the point of falling apart; this meant that on closing the door it caused the two connections to short out on each other and trip out the electrics

    Thanks for the advice

On an Ariston AFA370X I have the same problem with it tripping out the house fuse box when the door is shut. As far as I can tell all the front panel lights seem to be working - but I'm not sure.

Hi On many dishwashers, the latch engages a switch to activate the timer and other control components. If the latch is not completely engaged or if the switch is faulty, the machine will not operate. Here's how to test and repair a door switch:

Step 1: Latch the door and hold the latch tightly in the closed position. This works best on a unit with a lever-type latch. Then turn the control to the ON position. If the unit works, the problem is probably a misaligned lock unit. Adjust the lock unit with a screwdriver. If this doesn't solve the problem, the switch may be faulty.

Step 2: Test the switch with a volt-ohm-milliammeter (VOM) set to the RX1 scale. Remove the panel covering the door switch and remove one of the electrical lead wires of the switch from its terminals. Clip one probe of the VOM to each switch terminal and shut the dishwasher's door. If the meter reads zero, the switch is working. If the meter reads higher than zero, the switch is faulty and should be replaced.

Step 3: Replace the switch with a new one of the same type. Connect the new switch the same way the old one was connected.

The switch in the door may have a bare wire touching the sides causing a short. Check a schematic for the proper way to remove and test the switch. Look for bare wires or any insulation cracks.

if the door is not closing do you mean will not stay closed this may be because of the locking hasp or the handle/lock located on the door on the top of the unit if the door is not moving up and down then this would because of the lower pulleys inspect your machine further and message me back with your finds Thanks again Rick

Hi, we have a Frigidaire FBD1050REM diswasher that the soap door intermittantly won't open, leaving soap all over. Any ideals? Thanks, Christine

I have the same dishwasher and the same problem. What works for me 95% of the time is to push the soap door latch once before I load the soap and close the door. There seams to be two positions on this latch and one opens better. Also, make sure your top rack is pushed all the way to the back before closing the main door.
Personallly, I am looking for a replacement dishwasher!

Ariston LS 2020 dishwasher is tripping mains switch at several points of washing cycles. What's wrong with it?

It probably uses more electrisity than there is avaliable at peak preformance. It is safer to contact an electrician to have him measure the use of electrisity and why there is this sudden use.

if your dishwasher is recieving power and the circuit is controled by a switch, the swtich is faulty, check the swtich by multi tester if switch is defective replace the switch with new one.
check also the door if is tightly closed and latched. The diswasher will not operate until the latcht is prop[erly engagaed.to check this close and latch, closed and latch the door, holding the latch tightly inb place, then still pressing the latch closed, turn the control knob to the ON position.check if the dishwasher work, the latch is faulty and should be cleaned and tightened or replaced.best regard

My dishwasher trips out on certain cycles

sounds like faulty wiring inside unit. your circuit breaker is detecting an overload current condition...must look inside for wire touching frame. if none found, then wire fault may be inside of a device like motor or solenoid, so check these with ohmeter to ground-each wire (except chassis gnd) must be isolated from ground.
