There is a sensor in the printer which detects the paper in the printer .so if it is broken it is necessary to call a technician and get it replaced.it would not cost u very much as the cost of the sessor is negligble.

thanks.

Prints one page and jams, displays paper jam

so it does print and exit one page before it jams? if so you have something wrong with the exit sensor. if it does not feed it all the way thru it might not be feeding paper in to the machine fast enough. the feed tires might be dirty.

We cannot print a several page document, it keeps getting jammed. The printed copies come out folded.

Check the fusing unit (The Hot Part) also check the drum/Image units and also the paper guides in the draw rollers clean that pick up the paper. something is hitting the paper as it moves thur the machine.

Paper jams 1/2 way through drum/cartridge. Jams like an accordian, with 1/2 page printed. My printer is a Brother mfc 7420. About 2 years old.

Take the toner cartrige out, look around with a flashlight for a piece of paper or something that could jam the works. Check the movable tab that comes out of the front of the machine to hold paper up, maybe it has gotten crooked or something. Don't have anything in front of the machine to block the paper coming out. A can of compressed air can be used to blow the machine out.

Laser printer does not print

Hi there it may just be that the paper tray springs are not pushing the paper higher enough not making contact with the paper detect sensor arm. Or the sensor arm is broken and will need replacing. Check the tray springs also check the sensor arm you will see it if you remove the cassette and look inside there will be a black plastic lever hanging down when you put paper in this lever should go up as the paper acts as a barrier thus telling the machine that there is paper in it.

Thanks J

Cleaning a laser printer can solve minor problems, maintain print quality, and prolong periods between professional cleanings. Clean your printer when print quality deteriorates or when you change toner cartridges. Manually Cleaning Inside the Printer Steps: 1. Unplug the printer from the surge suppressor. 2. Remove the internal paper trays. 3. Remove the toner cartridge and place it on a piece of scrap paper. 4. Clean inside the toner cavity with a dry, lint-free cloth and brush (if a brush is supplied with the printer). 5. Clean the printer mirror gently with the brush. Don't touch the mirror if a brush isn't provided. 6. Wipe away dust and spilled toner. Remove paper fragments. 7. Clean the rollers, but don't touch the sponge roller. 8. Replace the toner cartridge. Tips: To remove unfused toner from the rollers following a paper jam, print 5 to 10 blank pages on scrap paper. Wipe toner from clothing if necessary, then immediately wash toner-soiled clothes in cold water. Go to your printer manufacturer's Web site (see Related Sites) for detailed cleaning instructions. Warnings: Don't use any liquid cleaners inside the printer. Initiating Automatic Cleaning Through Printer Software Steps: 1. Open the printer software by double-clicking on a printer icon or specific printer utility program, or opening a document and then selecting Print from the File menu. 2. In the printer software, look for a button labeled Options, Troubleshooting, Toolbox, Printer Utilities or something similar. (This varies by manufacturer.) 3. Follow the instructions on the screen. 4. Repeat the cleaning process if the results aren't satisfactory.
