SOURCE: Candy CPCA250 GB Freezer feezing but fridge not cold

Hello jonnyclewlow
Welcome,

You said, you recently had a problem with my Candy fridge freezer (it defrosted overnight and wasnt cooling at all) and a repair shop diagnosed a thermostat problem. I have replaced the thermostat, Now the freezer freezes without any problems but the fridge does not go cold at all.
Also the compressor is running constantly

This is my first thought

Fresh Food temperature is
too warm. Freezer
temperature is satisfactory.

1. Fresh Food control is set too
warm.
2. Set fresh food control to a colder setting. Allow 24
hours for temperature to stabilize.

3.Then see if you do not have your freezer articles packed full up to the top, or covering the cold air vents usually found in the rear of the freezer compartment.

The fridge and the freezer share the cold air so the air must not be restricted from travel form the freezer to the fridge and back!
This would also cause the compressor to run none stop trying to cool the fridge!
So check your air vents in the freezer.
I'll bet you did not know they were there !
Most of us never notice!
Hope this works for you.
Please let me know that one of these solutions worked for you!
or if you have any questions.
Thank You, huuum

Candy CSC 1745WE fridge freezer just started making a noise like the cooling fan is catching on something. This noise stops when you put pressure on fridge or freezer doors. Any ideas, many thanks.

If the defrost is not working then ice could be forming inside the unit. If that's the case then it will get worse as more ice forms and the unit eventually wont cool or will cool very little. Sometimes a panel or the fan blade isn't adjusted right and it hits something making noises. In the case you would have to pull the covers off inside the freezer .

LG french door fridge - makes hideous noise - loose bearings? - whenever fan is running, which is several times an hour. Any idea what is causing it? Husband tried to grease the fan. It's really...

A broken fan blade can cause a noisy motor. or a buildup of ice can cause some noise. If thes aren't the case you will need to have the fan motor replaced.

Evaporator Fan Motor noise is excessive for this refrigerator. GE Profile CustomStyle Model PTI22SFMARBS Serial# SF900146V

Despite my urge to vent about GE refrigerators, I'll keep this short.

If you have a constant squealing noise from the evaporator fan in the freezer, there's a good chance the fan just has failing bearings, and replacing the evaporator fan might solve the problem.

But if the noise is intermittent; quiet sometimes but sometimes buzzing loudly, then my bet is there's nothing wrong with your evaporator fan. It's a problem with the design of GE fridges: They don't defrost completely. So ice builds up on the back freezer wall, etc., and on and around the evaporator fan. That's not a problem when the fan is in "low speed mode". But open the door, get the fridge warm, and the fan kicks into "high speed mode". That's when the noise will start, as the fan blades and assembly warps under speed to hit ice and start vibrating.

Acid test is this: While the noise is occurring, turn the fridge temp (not freezer) control up as high as you can without turning off the fridge. That will make the fan shift into low speed. If the noise stops, you got ice on the fan, my friend.

In that case, unplug the fridge, and get a hair dryer and blow warm air into and onto the evaporator fan area. Maybe gently whack the fan area with your hand a bit, to knock the ice off. Once you get all the ice off, turn it back on. If it runs on high, without any noise, the problem is fixed ... until the next set of high humidity days. I plan to post a video about this, once I get it edited to remove the expletives. ;-)

GE will sell you a "moisture kit" for $340, which may fix the problem, but only if your fridge is out of warranty.

If your fridge is still under warranty, GE will tell you there's nothing wrong and that maybe you just need ear plugs.

Loud noise from the freezer side

The problem is a buildup of ice on the plastic housing (the curved plastic bit) in the back of the freezer under the fixed shelf where the icetub goes. The fan behind this plastic housing is hitting the ice when the defrost comes on.

Unplug the fridge, unpack the freezer, remove the four screws in the back, take off the sheetmetal backing and let the fridge thaw. You can remove the plastic piece after a while and get the ice off (be careful not to remove the styrofoam insulation by going too quickly).

Reassemble and you're back in business, for a few months. I'm never buying Samsung again myself.

Candy CFC 290 FF

Candy frost free freezers have a 'self defrost' mechanism to remove excess ice build up. What happens is the ice gets packed around the heat exchanger in the back of the freezer and it can't self defrost. This is easy to fix but will require the fridge to be left switched off with the door open for a couple of days so all the ice can melt. Make sure you left the appliance off for as long as you can as if there is any ice left the problem will just come back.

Fridge Feezes

My Candy fridge freezer done the same. After a bit of investigation, I found that the little plastic shaft from the front temperature dial that connects to the thermostat has snapped. I merely glued it back together and it worked fine.

In essence, the thermostat was turned on to super all the time, and turning the dial anti-clockwise did nothing as it wasn't connected to the thermostat.

Very flimsy I say.
