Re: Xerox 8550DP ERROR: 07.010.43:16981
Yep, One of 2 things cause this problem 95 or so percent of the time.
There is a print head block on the left side of the frame, about mid way back on the lower portion of the frame. It is about a 1 inch square stainless steel block. That is the pivot block that allows the print head to move both back and forth, and side to side by the X,Y axis motor. That block may be contaminated with spill over ink from the maintenace tray, or from the printer is not sitting level.
If the machine was not shut down properly or if there was a power failure the print head wiper may be tacked to the print head, which would require removal of the side covers and the ink loader to access the print head and drum area. Less likely are a bad wiper clutch.

Even if your printer's front control panel display has not gone bad yet, it could only be a matter of time.
If your printer has never had its control panel display replaced, you
can get a free replacement from Xerox, even if the printer is out of warranty. Just call
877-571-7765 with the serial number of your printer.
I think this is due to a known defect from the factory for many of these panels having a bad soder weld which eventually causes issues with the panel, even if not apparent at first. That was the case I had. Just one day out of the blue my panel went blank, some days its lit with no display others the display is upside down or reading gibberish other times it seems to work fine. I tried looking for a bad soder myself but couldn't find it then later found out there was a soder issue via another post on this site and they will replace this panel free of charge.
most likely problem, is that your printer is not getting enough power, verify that there are no external power supplies, or extention cords connected to the unit, also, you might want to try another power plug.
Testing the Ink Out SensorsUse this procedure to test if an Ink Out Sensor?s flag works correctly. 1.Remove ink sticks from the ink loader?s channels. 2.Place the printer in Diagnostics Mode by: Service method a. Turning on the printer and as XEROX appears on the screen, press and hold the Back and Help button until Beginning Service Mode Initialization appears. b. Scroll to and execute test Monitor: Sensors Customer method a.While error code displayed, press UP arrow and OK key. b.Scroll to Troubleshooting: Service Tools: Enter Diagnostic Mode.(Printer restarts). c.Select test 82: Monitor Sensors.Press OK. d.Scroll to 01: Exit Diagnostics and press OK to return to customer mode. 3.Insert the clean eraser end of a pencil thru the lowermost oval slot.(The eraser end of a pencil closely simulates the bottom rail shape of a Xerox ink stick.) Slide the pencil down the white channel guide until the sensor is tripped.A sensor change is displayed on the control panel. When the flag is depressed, the front panel will read <color> Ink Present H. When released, the reading will change to L.The test will only display a reading when a sensor change occurs. If a flag is stuck, no sensor reading will be displayed on the front panel. If it doesnt change states you need to replace the ink loader
I found a couple of references to the error ?07,010.43?, it?s a generic message with lots of possible causes. Xerox?s official web site says to turn your printer off a contact their technical support.
I did find one reference that said for them it turned out to be a wiper assembly stuck between the print head and the roller. I?ve never owned a Xerox printer (I?m an HP guy) so I can?t help you beyond that. Xerox?s support site for the phaser series is here: http://www.office.xerox.com/color-printers/phaser-8500-8550/sprt-enus.html
