Did you ever get your sound or DVD drive working on your A105?
Ive got the same laptop, A105-S4034. I got the computer without the restore cds and had to track down the drivers individually. Ive got the sound card drivers and they should work for your laptop. email me if you need me to send them to you. And if you still havent got your DVD drive working, its probably a drive gone bad. you can find a new DVD drive for most laptops. The only thing is there is a mounting bracket on the dvd drive that might not match with the new drive, so if you have a VERY very small screw driver, you can just remove the bracket and put it on the new drive. I can send you pics of it step by step. But, if you still have the recovery disks, i need a copy of them. Like i said, i got the laptop without the recovery disks, so i had to put xp on. I want to restore the computer to Media Center 2005, like it came with. If you are willing, i can show you how to copy the disks and put them on rapidshare so i can download them. You dont have to, but your help would be VERY appreciated. Thank you in advance.

The j is the drive letter that your laptop is expecting the cd drive to be and of course it is not. Go into the bios and select it to boot from the cd drive instead of the hard drive and try again. if it boots correctly from the cd the when you get the option to install windows make sure you delete the partition that windows was on. In fact delete all the partitons asyou have the cd's providing you do not have a data drive with all your info on it.
Your computer is trying to boot up when your memory card is installed. The memory card doesn't have an operating system therefore the computer cannot boot . You can disable all of your bios. options except for the hard drive in your bios settings which you access right after you start the computer . You'll find it by using the arrow keys and selecting boat device options in the bios settings .
Hello. Go to Control panel \ system \ hardware tab \ device manager \ select DVD CDROM drives Here click + symbol to expand. Right-click \ select uninstall driver. Now close all & restart laptop. Did your computer come with a restore disc? I find that a crupt c:file can reek havoc on any computer. If you do have a restore program disc. All c;files MUST BE SAVED TO A data DVD-RW discs that will hold all your files. Windows is notorious of self deleting start up files.
The first thing I would check is the speaker / headphone jack. These input jacks fail all the time and can effet your internal speakers. THIS SOUNDS LIKE THE PROBLEM>
