Remote's menu and input buttons, and television Input button not responding
On my sharp aquos lc42d62u just a few minutes ago the input button on the remote became unresponsive. This is the same on the actual television as well. I read the manual and unplugged it for two minutes then it was fine. After a minute of it being on the same problem returned only this time the menu button, and right arrow button joined the input button in becoming unresponsive and making the television turn off. After the TV turns off it will either automatically turn back on or it will have the power and opc light flash a number of times...

Re: Remote's menu and input buttons, and television Input...
Well the problem sounds like it could be the IR sensor on the tv or somthing in that circut that is failing or the EPROM chip that controls : Vol up/down , Channel up/down , Power on/off ,Menu , Input selection , ect... is failing, thus this will trigger the protection circut to shut the tv down. this kind of a problem only gets worse and can dammage other components if not repaired soon so it will need testing to determine the exact cause
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Look for any jammed buttons on the remote. Try changing the input device to something you are sure, works such as a DVD player. Switch off TV manually, switch off power, remove plug and retry after 48 hours.
If problem persists, please refer it to a qualified service technician.
When all else fails read the owner manual page 35:

If you are using a coaxial cable to a cable box you have to turn to channel 3.0 with a Sharp remote by pressing 3.0 enter the dot (.) is down by the 0. There is a way around this if you don't have a Sharp remote. You can go into the menu and complete a channel scan. If the model you own is the one pictured then you should have the coax cable connected where it says analog if you are connecting to a cable box this way.
If you are using composite, component, or hdmi cables you press the input button on the television and pick the right input. It is recommended that you do not use the coax cable anyway unless you do not have a cable box. There is an input button on the television and on the remote.

I HAVE A SHARP SHARP LC19SB25U - 19" Class HDTV LCD TV. I can turn it on but I have no pictue and cannot use the remote that came with it. For some reason, when I press buttons on television or the remote, it won't respond. Can you help me.
On the sharp remote you will find an input button. You depress the input button and a menu will appear and highlight the input you are presently on. Hit the input button again to select the next input. If you wait to long to depress the input button it will not work and you have to begin again. This unit will only hightlight inputs have a component hooked to that input.
